Ordered a day after you but still "Order in Progress" for me. Does Apple send an email update when it is prepared for shipment or are we checking twice a day for updates like I am? 
Ordered a base model 27” with the 512 on July 12. Status just changed to preparing to ship today with a pending charge on my card.
Holy crap, that was fast, just ordered 2 nights ago....
Thunderbolt 3 4TB G-Drive arrived today, Crucial 32GB (2x16) kit arrives tomorrow.

So I was wrong. My iMac is now in Incheon, South Korea. I guess it will go from there today and arrive in Europe tomorrow.
You will receive an email notification with a link that will take you to your order status where you will find your tracking number.

My i5 575 512 SSD I ordered on 6 July was scheduled for pickup at the Apple store on 9 August. Today the charge shows up as pending on my Visa and the pickup date has been changed to 3 August. So about a 1 week improvement. 3.5 weeks overall.

The iMac was shipped via UPS
Maybe arrived the 7/31 at the end of the day
Was estimated from 3 to 10 August

Woke up this morning to the shipment notification. Apple says it arrives by Aug 3rd but UPS is showing a date of Aug 1st with it coming from Shanghai.
UPS just updated tracking and pushed the delivery date back to Aug 3rd.
I hope it gets updated again and reverts back to the Aug 1st date...
So here's a story for you guys:
I had an MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar that after several months I started to dislike because of a few reasons. What I did was I took my computer to a reseller and they traded it for a new iMac 21.5" 4K with 3 upgrades: CPU, RAM and GPU. They ordered the computer for me on June 7 and it arrived July 25th. Crazy huh? I never got an order number or something that I could use and they never gave me reasonable explanation of why it took so long for it to get delivered.
I will not make the same mistake again to order it from that reseller. But the computer is here and I love it

Just a quick update. My iMac went from Shanghai to South Korea then a quick stop in Kazakhstan and now it has just arrived in Cologne, Germany so July 31 seems very likely. I expect it to arrive in Stockholm Sunday night/early Monday morning at the latest and then out for delivery Monday.

That was quick. I guess it's a standard configuration and if I understand correctly it was not ordered through Apple? I could only dream about those shipping times with my 512 GB SSD...

Typing this on my new iMac. Gosh it feels good and...OH MY GOD THE SCREEN IS BEAUTIFUL 
I just placed my order for a 27" Bto and I was given an option of ship to store or direct to my house. I opted for my house as the date given was potentially faster aug 10-15 while the store just said aug 15. Is there any risk in shipping such an expensive item directly? How well do they hold up in shipping?
Yesterday I received my BTO 27", i7, 1tb SSD, 580 with extended keyboard and touchpad. It took barely a week from my order to me receiving my new computer and I am so impressed by it. This iMac is wonderful.
UPS has no flight from Shanghai to US during the weekend. The next UPS flight departs from Shanghai on Monday 9pm local time. Check out UPS 5X 81
27" 512 GB ordered July 2nd. Delivery is now scheduled for August 4th.
Has been stuck in Eindhoven for three days, apparently its because it needs to get there from China before it can get shipped out to me. All this waiting is starting to kill the hype for me.

I've usually seen shipments from a Apple go from Shanghai to Incheon and then off to Alaska, etc. over the weekends. At least that is usually the route with any of my iPhones over the years.
