I ordered a i7 4.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Radeon Pro 580
through MacMall on July 09 and still no info on delivery. They are waiting for Apple to ship it to me. Apparently that specification is on backorder. I wonder why. I called them and try to change the hard drive to 1T ssd but this people are very incompetent, they don't know what there is and what there's not, the only thing they now is that the basic configurations are in stock.

Mine (i5/575/512SSD) has finally arrived after one full month of waiting. Ordered on 01 Jul. Doing setting up now and posting to this thread from my new iMac. :)

First impression is that the sound from MacBook Air seems to be clearer than my new iMac.. Haha.

Hey guys. For those who have received their 512GB 27" iMacs after the delay, could you post your SSD speeds?

Thanks!

I get about these results:
2500 read, 2000 write
2200 read, 1700 write with filevault

Can post more exact details and screenshots when I am back at my computer

Ordered Thursday 7/27, charged 7/29, preparing for shipment 7/31. Quoted delivery window 8/5-8/9. Hoping for the early end of that window. (USA)

Shipped last night 7/31 delivery scheduled for next Monday 8/7 :(

Looks like I may finally get the iMac on Friday which is one day past the original delivery estimate by Apple. I have no clue what happened over there in China but it seems like my iMac must have been set off to the side and completely missed since it was there for 4 days...

So long as it arrives in perfect condition and there is no damage to the machine I don't really care all that much about the delay except for the fact that I have off of work this week and it would have been the perfect time to get the new iMac all setup and my data copied over along with getting the new Drobo 5D3 up and running. Now it looks like I'll be having to do all that in the late evening hours after work and after the kiddos have gone to bed. :(

Mine has no tracking from China... it's a CTO. I think horse and buggy are delivering it. I wish I'd had the option for faster delivery when I ordered.

I didn't have an option for faster delivery either. Although with an original wait of 3-4 weeks after ordering a couple of days in regards to shipping wouldn't have meant all that much in the scheme of things. Had UPS done the shipping properly I should have been seeing it out for delivery today.

Ordered i7 4.2/512GB/580 on June 27 from B&H. Yesterday got email saying saying it is estimated to arrive at B&H on Aug. 4, then will be shipped to me in California. Looks like resellers are lower priority than direct Apple sales.

I hope this isn't the case. Waiting this long feels like an eternity! I ordered the same configuration as you on July 12 from Staples. Haven't heard a single peep out of them yet :(

Ordered 7/19
JUST changed to preparing to ship today.
27in i7/512SSD/pro580. getting it shipped to the PASADENA Apple Store. I'm prettty excited.........

Here are my speeds, FileVault results are all over the place. I have had writes as low as 1400 and as high as 2000, and reads from down to 1600 up to 2200. Still very fast. :)

Without FileVault:

I ordered an identical imac on 6/23 from B&H. With the delay in 512 SSDs, my original delivery to B&H was 7/27. Now it's 8/2. And then shipping to me (should be 1 day).

I'm not holding my breath. Seems like Apple stores are getting priority.

My concern is that the 512 SSD shortage might be a QC problem. Hope it is resolved soon.

Update: B&H has shipped today (8/2) with delivery for 8/3. Yea!

I received an email last night that my iMac would be delivered today. Checked my tracking this morning and it was delayed in Kentucky for operation errors or something and so now I'm supposedly getting it tomorrow. I'm tired of these mind games.

Just observed that my order is now preparing to ship with an arrive of 8/7-8/10. That's great, but sad because I leave for a week on the 11th so I will probably only be able to take it out of the box and set it up. I won't be able to really enjoy playing with it until the 18th.

I received a shipping notification with a tracking number late last night. Super excited!! Hopefully it'll be here early next week so I can at least enjoy it for a few hours before I ship out for work.

I take a little solace in the fact that I'm not the only one...but this sucks entirely!

I did call UPS last night and she told me that it was showing and being set to deliver today even though the website said no delivery date and that it was still in Anchorage. This morning I checked the status and it now shows as no delivery date and that there was a flight delay in Anchorage as well. I'll call again in a little bit to see if I can get an update from a live person.

Frustrating no doubt!

I ordered BTO base model with 256GB SSD from Adamora on 7/26. No shipping ETA yet and my CC has been charged the full amount. I'm sad... Apple's website shows 2–3 days wait time. I should have ordered from Apple.

21.5/i5-3.4GHz/560/8GB/512GB

Ordered on 7/30.

Status changed to
Preparing to Ship
today 8/2
