How smooth is the transition? The transition to Cmd+Shift+\ in Mavericks is super choppy.

Seems pretty smooth in my 2010 13" Macbook Pro, smoother than the transition to Mission Control for sure.
I made a gif, although it look choppy in it:

Added to the list.
Just need a screenshot, please and thank you :)

Here you have, although this is not a little thing, it was shown in the keynote.

What about batch selecting?

Selecting like *.JPG would be nice... It's missing since ages. You need an extension for that.
I guess you can use spotlight filters for that.

Heh, I like that new tab manager.

I think it's inspired by Firefox's Panorama/Tab Candy (good thing too - that feature was introduced back in Firefox 4 and has since received approximately zero code additions)

Also loving the fact that I no longer need Alfred or Glims to use a website's search engine.

Two questions for you:

1. How did u changed the icon at the stock Mail App?
2. Handoff requires bluetooth to be opened both on MAC and iPhone or iPad ? Or does it use the wi-fi /local network as iCloud Safari Tabs?

thanks !

No, I can't figure it out. I followed recommendations and directions on many threads, logged out then back into iCloud on my iPhone 5s and '13 nMac Pro, nothing. AirDrop works for somethings.

The only thing I did was install "Little Snitch", hadn't in years and wanted to check why a network process was eating a steady 96% CPU. After install, restart, approving rules, etc noticed Mail then Safari appearing as I used my iPhone. (and now Apple Maps)

Its just a developer preview number 1, not a finished product.

lol.

When I first saw it when I was watching the keynote I did think it looked a little odd. I think it'll just be an adjustment period for the people that don't like it. It does seem so much better in functionality than the current Spotlight, albeit a little resemblance to Alfred ;-).

It's just so... In your face. I mean, the ability for it to guess what you're looking for is nice. But to have this huge bland rectangle in the center of your screen. Come on. You can't even move it.

Can anyone check whether there are any changes in the way that Finder remembers and handles icon sizes, spacing, window size, and all the things that you can set in "Show View Options"?

Currently in Mavericks and before, window size is remembered on a per folder basis, which means every folder you open could have a different size which is really inconsistent, while icon sizes are remembered system-wide for new folders and on a per-folder basis for folders that you've changed manually. Which is also very inconsistent as you could end up opening 10 folders, each with a very different view without being able to have a true "default". Has this changed at all?

Personally I would prefer it to work more like it does in Windows (gasp, I know) but at least there Explorer retains the same window size and view for all folders once you change it, but you can still get specific folders to have a different view.

It's still all over the place. It's one thing that irritates me the most. I use List View in almost all Finder windows, and I constantly find myself having to adjust the column widths since "Name" usually takes up the entire window, with the remaining columns off the side. Column Widths

So i've been looking around but can't seem to find any general consensus on getting Messages to work in Yosemite. When I try to open the app it gives me an error message about some internal issues. Has anybody been able to find a fix for this? Thanks!

Since I can remember I've customized my icons, either using one's I find online or creating my own.

To change system icons:

- Go to the System/Library/CoreServices directory. System App's such as the Dock, Finder, etc are located there.
- Right-click on a app icon you want to change, select "Show Package Contents"
- Move to /Contents/Resources
- The Resources folder holds the app's icons. The icons vary from png to icns formats (some 1024x1024 res)
- Replace the stock icon with the same name and format as the icon you want to use.

You can change almost anything. It may take a reboot for the icons to show.

For application icons:

It's much easier

- Select the application in your Applications folder
- Hit Command+I
- Select the icon you want to use and drag it to the small app icon in the top left corner of the window (or, in this case, copy the new icon and paste it, Command+C copy and Command+V paste)

Some files won't work, certain ICNS or PNG images, so you may have to right-click on the app and drill into the /Resources folder and replace the icon the same way as the above instructions.

I used to use "CandyBar" for my icon library, but Panic stopped supporting it. Been using "IconBox2", great app for organizing custom icons.

For the last question, I believe it uses WiFi, uncertain about bluetooth although I noticed my iPhone 5s automatically paired with my nMac Pro and I cannot unpair/forget it. I honestly don't know how it works but am trying my hardest to figure it out. :)

Hope this helps, attached pics on changing Application icons.

Watched some WWDC vids over the weekend, added a bunch of new stuff to this list

Also, played with the new server app, pretty much the same, looks nice though.

Thank you for your reply.
Will be great to use wifi/internet local network instead of using bluetooth.
Bluetooth its not good for battery. iCloud Safari tabs nice thing they made by using the wifi or 3g between devices and now they go further with handoff function.
the small innovation Apple needs will be a good autonomy for iPhone.
iPad battery life is great. Macbook Air and Pro great!

New batch renaming pane available in Finder:

Nice find. I've been using a 3rd party app called "Renamer" for years to rename photos in batches. This won't entirely supplant the app, but for basic functionality, it's nice to have.

radio buttons and checkboxes animate, not sure that there's anything else new.

You forgot popup buttons. But that's about it really. Oh, and the search fields, which have to animate their labels from centre to the left when they activate.

Well DUH!
I've been playing with betas for long enough to know not to complain. I was simply looking for any ideas since it seems to be working for some and not for others.

the wifi icon looks way too thin :(

Why don't you click on the "Use as defaults" button?
