Dark mode seems pointless if it only affects menu bar and dock. Is this really the case? If so, might Apple still be working to integrate it throughout the system?

a link to your wallpaper please :)

Here you go: http://cl.ly/WRmc :)

I don't think so, there are some files that mean that they have been working on getting dark mode to work with the window title bars too.

The new beta has been performing horribly so far. I was seriously sitting here for a good half hour just trying to browse the web. Safari crashed about 25 times and it was super unresponsive. Also the scrolling is acting like windows scrolling, ie choppy and terrible.

It seems to be breaking in though and actually working now.

Sigh, found my first bug. When you drag an icon off the dock in dark mode, the "Remove" text is black on a black window background.

----------

Only menu bar

Not really.

Dock, Menu Bar, Dock icon folders, dock icon text bar things, dock icon right click menus.

Not sure why some people want black app windows. I think that would look tacky and overkill. Wouldn't mind if they made the regular right clock menu black though.

----------

If you turn off menu bar translucency, the blue highlight buttons are no longer flat and have a slight rounded look like prior versions of OS X. Yuck. Why? :(

has anyone seen the shared screen option in messages yet?
I haven't got a chance to test it but would like to know how it works... it is in details section of the contact info, its the square on top of square icon

Yes many people know about it.

But no it doesn't work or do anything atm

You can install it onto a pen drive (if you have one big enough), I installed it onto a 32GB drive just to mess about, the performance will be horrible, but gives you a good chance to test it at least.

mmmmm, will think about that :) but I will probably install it in a separate partition. 1 question though, will I be able to delete the new partition and merge the space again with the old one without loosing any thing???

:) awesome :)

Yes, just use disk utility to delete the second (yosemite) partition, and then resize the first partition so that it is the original size.

For me it is the other way around. It seems to be performing very well on a late 2013 rMBP 15"

Perhaps Apple has some more love for some models than for other. BTW I did an upgrade from Mavericks. Not a clean install.

Oh God, someone actually thinks that dark theme in the release - it's just The Dock and the Menu Bar?

I knew some would common on that :) , and yes I know it's still a DP and not even a beta :) , but there isn't a single hint directs that the dock and the Menu Bar aren't the only UI elements to get darkened :) not even in the keynote.
