Not sure if it is related but my USB DAC (identified as "Burr-Brown Japan PCM2702") can't adjust volume anymore, neither the speakers on my DisplayPort connected screen. This is in the release version of El Capitan. Never tried the betas. Worked in Yosemite.

I have the same issue.

I don't know if this is a bug or a "feature", but in the version of iTunes (12.3) that installs with El Capitan you can't turn off Automatic Downloads of Music (via iCloud). If you uncheck the "Music" option under "Automatic Downloads" (under "Store Preferences"), then click Ok, as soon as you reopen iTunes Preferences the "Music" is checked again. Very annoying.

Anyone know if this is a bug, or Apple's way of "encouraging" iCloud (which I don't want)?

Anyone else have an issue where the top sites page that shows tiles of website previews keeps having some of the tiles blank? No matter what I do the tiles for macrumors/forums and espn going blank.

Also, when I use the trackpad to open launchpad when the top sites page is open...it's laggy as heck. Anyone else?

I'm having issues with tags, I've attached some images below for explanation to see if anyone can recreate this issue:

Here are three folders, two with distinct tags, one without.

When adding a new third tag Mac OS X 10.11 combines and all the tags to all folders; Yosemite did not have this issue.

Is anyone having problems with mouse lag? I'm using the bluetooth Magic Mouse, and it works just fine in Windows 10 and Ubuntu, only El Capitán has this problem.

I'm having issues with the Finder freezing regularly. It always happens when I try to empty the trash, but it also has happened when I open a new window. The only thing that fixes it is restarting the Finder, but it returns a few minutes later.

Now when I attempt to put a window in split screen mode by clicking the green button it does not allow me to move the window. :(

HDD sitting on OptiBay...?

I remember having this problem on Mountain Lion, but it was a nasty bug that Apple couldn't fix in time to write it off properly.

Nope, HDD in it's original position. Wasn't a problem in Yosemite even with heavy CPU usage.

STICKY NOTES:

Is it just me or is retrieving saved sticky notes not working as per http://alvinalexander.com/mac-os-x/mac-stickies-save-saving-file-sticky-notes-sync -

Here's how to save a Mac sticky note to a file:

  1. Create the Mac Sticky
  2. Press [Command][w] to close the sticky note. (That's not a typo.)
  3. The Stickies application will ask if you want to discard your note, or save it. Choose the Save option.
  4. Save the sticky note to a file anywhere on your filesystem you want to save it.
  5. When you save the sticky note, the note will be closed, because that's how we got to this "Save Stickies" process. Now you have to re-open it.
  6. To re-open the sticky note, in the Stickies application, click File, then "Import Text", and then navigate to your file location and re-open it.
Cheers

Anyone else notice if you move the cursor around quickly, especially in a circular movement it magnifies about 10x's its size? I'm guessing that's just a random bug. It was in the public beta but I see its still there after doing a fresh public release install

Literally the first feature presented in the keynote.
This made my night.

Installed El Capitan a few days ago and noticed that despite having Mail set to show 5 recent items in the notification center, there are more than 5 (assuming I have more than 5 new emails). For instance, today I woke up with 13 emails in my notification center. Anyone experiencing something similar with their Mail or other apps?

I've just upgraded to El Capitan and when I wake the computer from sleep (reopening the shut screen after at least an hour), my built-in keyboard and trackpad are unresponsive. Furthermore, the system looks for a Bluetooth keyboard automatically.

Anyone else have this issue? Any advice?

thanks!

Next to my Mac.
Got a weird problem here. Since the Yosemite drive has been acting sluggish, I decided to do a clean El Capitan installation on a new hard drive in my Mac Pro. It went well. What I did next was to copy my Mail archives folder from Yosemite to El Capitan. After the copying was completed I launched Mail (using El Cap as the start up drive) and it proceeded to upgrade my archives. After it was completed, I noticed on the left side (in the Classic Mode) the "On My Mac" section was missing. From others in the Apple forums, I tried their solutions and they didn't work. One was to delete the accounts and add them back and the other one was to delete the Envelope files from the V3 folder in Mail archives folder.

One strange thing is when I upgraded two other Macs from Yosemite to El Capitan and placed the Mail archives folder from the Yosemite drive from my Mac Pro, the El Cap Mail upgraded the database I was able to see the "On My Mac" section and view the mail folders and retrieve the archived emails.

Something funny here also, I have been following the El Capitan beta process (with help from the dark side) on another hard drive in my Mac Pro and did the same copy of Yosemite Mail archives to the beta HD. For the beta HD, the current version is 10.11.1 3rd beta release. The El Cap beta Mail did the upgrade and was able to correctly display and retrieve the emails from the "On My Mac" section.

I wonder what is the problem with the general public release of El Capitan.

Any ideas. Thank you.

  • Large PDFs take forever to render in Preview.
  • Certain applications turn black when opening before displaying the proper GUI
  • Tags are totally buggy
  • Can no longer place files onto the Bootcamp partition to free up Mac HD space; not a bug exactly, just an annoying new 'feature'.

I'm having the same problem with Finder! Every time I rename a file and try to click on the next one, it forces me to view the file I've just renamed, popping back up to its new alphabetical spot and losing my place in my list, making the task of organization and filing more frustrating, difficult, and time-consuming than it needs to be. I've never had this problem with any of the other operating systems. And batch file renaming programs won't do the trick since each file has a different name, and not a number system.

Does anyone have a fix for this, or is it just a bug? :/

Also...is anyone else having issues with their tagging system? Suddenly I have all of these tags that I deleted over a year ago popping up and being randomly assigned to files that I've never assigned them to, in place of their actual tag. Completely random, no consistency. I've tried renaming them, deleting them, deleting all tags off of the files, reindexing my hard drive for spotlight, everything. Is there a way to completely scrap and just recreate the tagging system database?

issue with USB 10/100 Ethernet device
not able to connect to LAN (via a USB 10/100 LAN device) after upgrade to Mac OSX 10.11 (El Capitan)

I suspect this is a driver issue ... duh ... I'm left speechless
I wonder is there a way to fallback to Yosemite??

I've experienced a very frustrating bug which has probably cost me a job interview. Safari is now autofilling an imaginary email address into forms. I have similar .co.uk and .com addresses but Safari is entering .com.uk. My address card is correct and doesn't even contain my.co.uk address. I didn't notice this until I'd sent it. I corrected and sent the form again but it looks as though I'm very careless.
