You mean like a Finder replacement? Forklift does that and seems to be working fine in El Capitan so far.Is there ANY app that provides "folders on top" functionality, SIP or not?
Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor isn't working for me.
That looks cool, I'll give it a shot! Thanks! You mean like a Finder replacement? Forklift does that and seems to be working fine in El Capitan so far.

sorry, but i can't find the "/usr/local/lib" folder to manually copy it in there. when i search it it says folder can't be found....just got this mac and learned how to back up my dvd's 2 days ago and now this happens. The fix for this is to put libdvdcss into /usr/local/lib manually. SIP (System Integrity Protection) is what's stopping you from modifying /usr/lib. Fortunately HandBrake knows to look in multiple places for the library.
OK, you're right, /usr/local/lib doesn't exist on my Mac either. I must be either remembering the instructions wrong, or you have to create it yourself first...sorry, but i can't find the "/usr/local/lib" folder to manually copy it in there. when i search it it says folder can't be found....just got this mac and learned how to back up my dvd's 2 days ago and now this happens.

Forklift is very slow and crashing when for example you try to delete a file.
Is he using the latest version? I have no idea. All I know is I don't feel like shelling out $30 for something that might not work right. I see the last "major" version was in 2010 (don't perceive new features are added often) and if there ever is another major update, it won't be a free update.
I'm using the latest App Store version from here and it works fine for me. It is $19.99 and was just updated in June 2015.

I got it right off the developer's own web site and it's the same version number (2.6.5). I loaded it up again and this time it didn't crash like that, but seeing as I have no idea why it did the first time, it still makes me nervous to plunk down $30. I'd prefer it had a navigate "up" button like XtraFinder for that matter and I miss the color icons already as well.
The App Store version would of course be subject the the App Store Sandbox rules where the web site version would not. I wonder if the web site version is trying to do things outside the Sandbox that are broken with SIP? I'm having no issues with the App Store version here on El Capitan.
GeekTool just updated to 3.1.2 version to work with El Capitan: http://projects.tynsoe.org/en/geektool/download.php
It said 3.1.1 on the main screen, but 3.1.2 in the About window. And, in fact, fixed the "white screen" problem.I just downloaded the 3.1.2 zip file, unzipped it to find another 3.1.1 executable.

Xcode 6.x has known issues with El Capitan, including 6.4, according to Apple. You're best off using 7.0.Does Xcode 6.4 work?
I installed OS X 10.11 El Capitan on 30 September 2015. Initially I liked some of its features; however, it broke too much software. Fortunately, I used a sacrificial machine for the experiment. Anyway, here’s some of the problems I encountered.
The following applications broke on a clean OS X 10.11 El Capitan install:
Totalfinder (Expected: SIP)
Totalspaces (Expected: SIP)
BBEdit (Prior to 11.1.3)
Photoshop CC 2015— Install fails
InDesign CC 2015— Install fails
Dreamweaver CC 2015—Install fails
MS Office 2016—Depends on Version)
QuarkXpress 2015—crashes
iCloud syncing is intermittent
This is beginning to remind me of MS a few years back, but at least MS had the excuse of a lot of different hardware to try to support. Sadly, I wish I could say something more positive on the fourth anniversary of Steve’s death.

The new San Francisco font looks much better than the hard to read Helvetica Neue that came with Yosemite. I still dislike the overly flat user interface and comically juvenile icon and button colors. Fortunately, you can change the icons back if you have access to the Maverick icons.
ITunes 12.3 is almost to the point of not useable for those managing large music libraries and needing
Moreover, the inability to return you back to where you were in the library after opening a playlist is idiotic. I do not want to be dumped at the root of the library every time I leave a playlist.
