Huh, very strange. These apps I'm using since the first El Capitan beta, and never had problems with installing. Only InDesign crashes but I installed normally. Is there any error when installation fails?I installed OS X 10.11 El Capitan on 30 September 2015. Initially I liked some of its features; however, it broke too much software. Fortunately, I used a sacrificial machine for the experiment. Anyway, here’s some of the problems I encountered.
The following applications broke on a clean OS X 10.11 El Capitan install:
Totalfinder (Expected: SIP)
Totalspaces (Expected: SIP)
BBEdit (Prior to 11.1.3)
Photoshop CC 2015— Install fails
InDesign CC 2015— Install fails
Dreamweaver CC 2015—Install fails
MS Office 2016—Depends on Version)
QuarkXpress 2015—crashes
iCloud syncing is intermittent
The new San Francisco font looks much better than the hard to read Helvetica Neue that came with Yosemite. I still dislike the overly flat user interface and comically juvenile icon and button colors. Fortunately, you can change the icons back if you have access to the Maverick icons.
ITunes 12.3 is almost to the point of not useable for those managing large music libraries and needing control. The blending of colors from album art has destroyed the once great user interface. Moreover, the inability to return you back to where you were in the library after opening a playlist is idiotic. I do not want to be dumped at the root of the library every time I leave a playlist. This also has a solution by returning to an earlier version of ITunes albeit with possible syncing problems with iDevices. My choice is iTunes 12.1.27 since that’s the last version that returns you back to where you were when exiting a playlist.
This is beginning to remind me of MS a few years back, but at least MS had the excuse of a lot of different hardware to try to support. Sadly, I wish I could say something more positive on the fourth anniversary of Steve’s death.
Everything is working fine for me;
All that until now, will report any problem. I could test games and other software, feel free to ask anything.

Ironic since Photoshop CS3 from ~2007 still works and Office 2011 seems OK here. I can't say the same for VMWare Fusion 5.x. I had to buy Fusion 8 for $79 and that works fine.
I'm actually surprised how little the interface changes bother me after seeing the photos of Yosemite. The only change that really bothers me is the traffic light buttons being flat-toned. I don't use many Apple Apps and the rest of the stuff on my dock are the same. In short, I don't care after all. I feel stupid for ranting all that time. Of course, the font change might have helped and Dark Mode actually looks better for the dock/menu bar than Mavericks.
Define "large". I've got almost 9000 songs, 500 movies and a 710 TV shows. I don't know why you think it's unusable. I resisted the upgrade to iTunes 12 for a long time because I didn't like the interface changes on my friend's computer when I played with it. But iOS9 forced me to upgrade or not be able to sync my iPod Touch. It turns out it's not that bad, after all. "Playlist Mode" looks almost just like iTunes 11.x for music and with album art turned on, etc. There is no color bleed for that mode. The Movie list mode is the same and so is the TV list mode. I never have used icon mode, etc. and don't use it now either. Artist mode isn't bad, though. I see no slow behaviors like scrolling, etc. and search finds anything quickly. In short, I can live with it after all.
I just tried it. In Playlist mode I highlighted a song down in the list randomly and went to a playlist and came back to music mode and it was right where I left off so I don't know what you're talking about (V12.3.0.44 which as of this writing is the current version). I tried switching between "My Music" Artist mode and Playlist mode and playlists within that mode and every time I switched back to where I was, it was still where I left it (same for movies and tv shows and back to music).
What about this guy's reply on Page 1?
Is he using the latest version? I have no idea. <snipped>
I just downloaded the evaluation version and managed to lock it up just by switching "views" from Cover flow to Columns and then clicking on List view. I got the spinning Beach Ball of Death....(still spinning and locked up over two minutes later). Yeah $30 and it didn't last 20 seconds before it locked up in El Capitan. Thanks, but no thanks.

I'm using the latest App Store version from here and it works fine for me. It is $19.99 and was just updated in June 2015.

Strange. Since the latest beta till now for me works flawlessly...doesn't work

Links inside an email (like a summary in a long newsletter) don't work anymore. Apple has removed that starting at iOS8, now it's time for the computers to get dumbed down...

works fine here...
Interesting, because the two newsletter I read every day don't work - Yahoo Group Digest and a film newsletter.
Are we talking about the same thing? I'm talking about links within a newsletter, like a summary that makes it jump to the part you want to read. NOT a link to a website that opens in Safari.
