I've seen a new process that I'm not familiar with "coreduetd" taking 100% CPU on random occasions.

Anyone know what this new process is related to?

Googling didn't help much... must be something internal at Apple

"CoreDuet framework"

a 'ps' of the process in Terminal reveals..

45 ?? 167:45.39 /usr/libexec/coreduetd

It appears to use a fair bit of CPU compared to other processes.

I think that means your selected startup disc is not connected or otherwise not available. Try going to Settings/Startup Disc, change it to your yosemite drive and restart. If it's still there, then I'm not sure what it is about.
There is nothing wrong with the start up, mac starts normally. The problem is that logo appears before apple logo.

hmmm, I thought my 4GB of RAM was limiting, but, it appears to max out beyond whatever physical RAM you have.

When Safari slows down I do one of two things that help: 1) use Memory Clean (free app). 2) use Repair Permissions with Disc Utility. I'm not sure why my permissions get broken, but, someone said that apple's done something that breaks permissions on servers, I'm not sure how or the implications, but, repairing permissions works for me.

I notice that Safari runs away when loading gifs from certain sites. In this particular case, Safari choked and went out of control on this gif:

DP5 on a 13" rMBP. 2 Issues - not sure if mentioned yet but reported to Apple.

1. If the mac goes to sleep by closing the lid for awhile when I wake it up I can move the mouse and see the cursor blinking in the password box at the login screen but it doesn't recognize the keyboard. I have to hard shut down to fix it.

2. Macs bound to active directory just spin after a network username and password are keyed in if connected to the network. If you unplug from the network and try to log in it lets you in fine.

Loaded fine and played back fine once completely loaded... using Yosemite DP5 and Safari.

Not sure what's causing it.

Here's a Youtube video I shot from my phone showing the behavior.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMlKNkXijlg

A couple of things to note in the video, I had copied the url into the url bar right before I started recording but didn't hit enter. Safari began to prefetch the page, and exhibited the same memory behavior. I'm not quite sure what's going on. It seems like all the gifs loaded from the gfycat site seem to show the same behavior, whereas GIFs loaded on imgur don't follow the same behavior and load normally.

I went to interfacelift to download a couple of wallpaper and whenever I would click the download button the picture would sometime be incomplete or blurry. I didn't have this problem in Maverick. Microsoft Word would also sometime crash or take a pretty long time to load. So is this normal?

All in all it has been running pretty smoothly for me. I have had an issue where my USB ports won't work but a restart fixes it. Has anyone found where the show all duplicate files are in iTunes I have so much duplicate music and cannot find it in the new iTunes. Or gemeni for that matter but it shows the duplicates. Any ideas?

Yosemite freezes randomly when typing

Hi everyone

I am running Yosemite on MBA mid-2013 model 13".

I have encountered a weird bug - the keyboard, at random times, becomes unresponsive when I'm typing. The screen still appears to be active - flashing cursor icon, videos continue to play, etc. - but I can't type or use the mouse at all.

It happens randomly with no apparent trigger other than using the keyboard.

The only way to "fix" the issue is to hold down the power button then turn it back on. I get the "your computer shut down because of an error" thing pop up at log on.

Anything I can do to fix?

Yeah. Coreduet daemon is running away with the CPU at alarming intervals. Not sure what's going on there, but it is noticeable when playing Civ V.

Screen Goes Gray With Vertical lines

I can use the mac for about 10 minutes before the mac hangs and displays a grey screen with vertical lines. If i put the mac to sleep for 30 seconds it gets rid of it but only for 10 mins.

I don't have a pw on my system. Installed 10.10 beta and now I can't log in. No pw doesn't work apparently.

did/do you use your dedicated gfx card?
this looks like your gfx card is not working properly anymore...
maybe heat problems?

Open audio midi setup, right click your built in speakers and select "Use this device for sound output". If that doesn't work, try connecting speakers/headphones.

Been looking and haven't found anyone else that experiences this, but has anyone noticed cmd-tab / expose / finder randomly become disabled? I am unable to switch between programs or use the dock, and cannot reproduce how to make this bug happen. I am able to switch through apps with quicksilver / alfred / spotlight still. Resetting my MBP fixes the issue. Happens about once or twice a day for me, sporadically.

Mid 2012 RMBP.

I was able to watch 3 hours of movies on one cycle today. I don't know exactly how much I would get on mavericks, but it was noticeably better on Yosemite. I guess quicktime was upgraded somehow to improve power efficiency.

----------

Go to your Macintosh HD/library/audio/plug-ins/HAL then delete the instant on driver. I had the same issue and that fixed it! Hope this helps.

It says i have no such file or directory with the comand or in the finder library?!.

Apologies if this has been documented already for the public beta.

Notifications have started bugging out on me. Do Not Disturb doesn't work, and when I came back to my computer this morning (having left it on overnight), I found dozens of notifications plastered over the screen from several applications I haven't even launched under Yosemite yet. Very weird.

Also, apps are showing banner notifications even when they are set not to.

My Logitech speakers stopped working after the latest beta update. Oh boy.

Update: Resetting PRAM fixed it.

Mac App Store won't update any apps for me after installing PB2. Just hangs with "Waiting..." and now there seems to be duplicate icons for them in Launchpad. I have both the being updated greyscale versions and the full colour icons for them.

Also, Tunnelblick has stopped working for me. I can connect to my VPN but after the connection is established to the VPN there's no actual internet connection.
