You'll need a version later than 5.1. Right now I'm using V6.03 Beta 2. This thread covers how to correctly deploy it.Yes. I noticed there’s a CCC version 6. Perhaps that one provides better functionality with Big Sur. I’m still using version 5. I did a clean install and now transferring with Migration Assistant.
Maybe I couldn't get it working because I was booted off a spinning HDD in a USB 3 enclosure that was very slow. It took a half hour for the Mac to boot. When I used Migration Assistant it was transferring at about 30 mb/s. I can't stand that anymore. So I got a TB3 enclosure for the old NVMe SSD with the idea of connecting it with Apple's TB3 to TB1/2 adapter, but I found out the adapter doesn't pass along power. So now I need a TB3 dock that is powered. I was looking online at reviews and they all seem terrible. I wonder if there is one that isn't ridiculously priced and junk. You'll need a version later than 5.1. Right now I'm using V6.03 Beta 2. This thread covers how to correctly deploy it.

Creating this thread since the MacOS 12 Monterey beta 2 was issued as a PB today. The most up to date version of CCC is 6.0.2 released 6/30 You will now see this when running the Monterey Beta I am not sure of any changes that would really effect this version compared to how it was running...forums.macrumors.com

I think I saw that OWC has a TB4 hub https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TB4HUB5P/ ... wonder if anyone here has used one? OWC appears to have burned a few people here and has a bad reputation.Maybe I couldn't get it working because I was booted off a spinning HDD in a USB 3 enclosure that was very slow. I saw a thread where some people pre-ordered ones, but I haven't read anything about how good or bad it is yet. I bought an Envoy Pro enclosure for an Apple SSD and it corrupted the disk so I had to send it back. I got a replacement, but I haven't used it yet. The TB3 enclosure I got is from them too. I hope it's good.I think I saw that OWC has a TB4 hub https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TB4HUB5P/ ... wonder if anyone here has used one? It says "Provides up to 60W Power Delivery via host port". There's only one host port. However, not sure, I havent tested this, the OWC claims to give you full 65watt per port even when using multiple ports. Most hubs split the wattage amongst the ports. So if you plug in something to each port, that last port has a lot less juice for your devices.
Two years ago 970 EVO Plus required firmware updates, not since. I doubt that you would get sent a two years old blade now.Right now on Amazon US the 980 Pro and non-Pro 1TB are about $100 less than the 970 Pro and non-Pro. Only the 970 EVO Plus is cheaper, but I didn't want that version because of required firmware updates to make it happy with the Mac Pro.
Apologies, I didn't notice the 970/980 references.Right now on Amazon US the 980 Pro and non-Pro 1TB are about $100 less than the 970 Pro and non-Pro. Only the 970 EVO Plus is cheaper, but I didn't want that version because of required firmware updates to make it happy with the Mac Pro.
I'm confused. In the sticky page one of this thread it still says the 970 EVO Plus requires a firmware update. Two years ago 970 EVO Plus required firmware updates, not since. I doubt that you would get sent a two years old blade now.
Btw, the 980 normal (not EVO, not PRO) is based on a DRAM-less SSD controller and it's now considered an entry level blade.
You are mistaken and I edited the first post to make it even more clear. Samsung is making 970 EVO+ blades with the Mac Pro compatible firmware since around September/October 2019. The chance of buying a brand new blade right now and get a blade made before September 2019 is extremely remote.I'm confused. In the sticky page one of this thread it still says the 970 EVO Plus requires a firmware update.
970 EVO Plus is an excellent 2TB model, 980 series have issues when not used on a PCIe switched card.Regardless, I'm looking for a 2TB NVMe for use on a cMP 5,1 mounted to an Angelbirds Wings PX1. What's my best bet of all the cards? More focused on reliability/future compatibility than cost. Thanks so much.
