FYI, direct from Crucial's upgrade pages:
Apple RAM & SSD Upgrades
We have compatible memory upgrades for your system
Crucial currently does not have any compatible storage upgrades for your particular system
I use crucial SSds all the time in imacs

Gembird PEX-M2-01 with Micron 3400 512GB Gen4x4 FW: HPS0043- not working. Not sure where can be issue (card or NVMe). If I put this in MP3.1 or 5.1 it's booting but stop in 2 seconds when Apple logo and loading bar appears.

Hi folks,

I just got my Mac Pro 6.1 and looking into expanding internal storage options.

I read few threads in here and it seems like AngelShark Carrier Board™ for M.2 SSD modules is the most reliable/viable option. I was wondering if anyone in here interested have a spare one they want to sell, by any chance?
Thanks!

Regards!

I think 970 EVO and 970 EVO+, the latter with newest firmware, are confirmed as reliable for Mac Pro 6,1 use. At least I have used those.

update: Now I am on Kingston KC2500 though.

I have nine Samsung SSDs mounted in my NcMP 7,1. All were in previous Mac Pros, and are years old. No Issues. Samsung is my brand of choice.

DriveDX reports all drives as healthy👍🏻

Just wanted to report that I've been running a Crucial P1 1TB blade in a Riitop enclosure for a number of months now in my MP 5,1, seemingly without problems. Blackmagic speed test reports around 1400 MB/sec as expected for a PCIe x4 passive card.

Anyone else lose their >1500 MB/s function of PCIE SSDs on IOCrest PEX40129 with the Monterey upgrade (via OCLP)? While on Big Sur I still had 3000+ MB/s on a Samsung 970 EVO and 2800 MB/s on a WD Black SN720. Currently stuck at <1500 after pulling out all PCIE devices except GPU and IOCrest, several swaps between slot 1 and 2, NVRAM resets. I just upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey last month; and my ROM is reconstructed.

I have a Tempo SSD Pro Plus PCIE card configured in RAID0 with HS13.6 bootable, but the measured speed is subpar. According to Sonnet the speeds should be:
Data Transfer RateUp to 960 MB/s (1700 MB/s with two cards)(4)

What gives? The SSD's are Crucial BX500.

I understand that is a PCIe Gen 2 slot so it does appear performance should be closer to 960 MBps.

Attached is the entire pcitree. @joevt I thought slot 4 was supposed to be running at g2x2 speed?
Gen2x4 = PCIe v2.0 x4.

Both the PCIe slots 3 and 4 are connected to the downstream ports of the IDT PES12T3G2 PCIe v2.0 switch, the upstream is then connected to the south bridge.

It looks like the switches are running at 2x4, but the SATA controllers at 2x2 and 2x1:

What speeds are the drives without raid? I expect 400+ 540 MB/s for the g2x2 controller and 200+ 400+ MB/s for the g2x1 controller.

UPDATE: fixed the expected speeds for 5 GT/s x2 and x1.

Hi guys I just have my generic adapter from eBay (e.g. "2013-2014 Macbook Air SSD PCIe adapter 4X") (no brand) and SSUBX 128GB Apple drive but the speed is top 400 write and 1400 read - where can be issue (should be 1500/1500) ?

cMP5.1 latest firmware and latest OCLP with macOS Monterey 12.6.5

Also I have OWC owcssdab2mb05 but if I try to use this drive in same adapter the cMP5.1 can see this drive after few minutes after boot in to the system but I can't access it (also tried Windows machine and other adapter but same issue) so I don't know if this drive is made JUST for MacBook's ?
