It looks as though the focus is behind the biker. Also, the blown-out sky and strong directional lines and ornamentation of the architecture detract from the subject. Perhaps a more shallow DOF would have helped.
Thanks for the info. I definitely had trouble focusing on the biker (though some in the series were a little better than this). I'm not sure I wanted the focus to be solely on the biker, though, I would have liked equal between him and the architecture. A few questions, though:
When you have a moving subject that is going to flit by your viewfinder in only a second or two, and you don't know their distance, how can you get a sharp focus on just them? It doesn't seem like the AF would work b/c they would be through the area the AF is using in a fraction of a second, even if you could hit it at the perfect time.
When you have a small portion of the sky that is grey and the rest of the picture is fairly dark, how do you keep from having the sky blown-out?
Anyway, thanks for the C&C, sorry it took me so long to get back to the forum. I went to a butterfly house the other day, so I'll be posting some macros for a few days.
C&C still welcome
I was trying to get the little guy in flight. Image is cropped by almost half the original size to tighten it on him (though it doesn't seem like that much was cut out).
