Got a picture of the Mitchell Library Glasgow last night on the way home, I really like the way they light it up at night.

From my Thanks... someone very near and dea...pg[/img] Spring by Chris-VirtualRain, on Flickr

I actually much prefer this one. I was going to say I would have preferred more expression (and therefore emotion) with the last one but this ticks all the boxes!

Great colours too!

Hindsight is a beautiful thing but I might have tried to move that branch bottom left!

My shot is of a lady on her honeymoon. Her husband was grabbing a shot with his gopro (shock horror ) so I decided to quickly grab one since he'd done all the hard work of posing!

My angle hid her face, adding to the intrigue I think.

As always, comments appreciated.

Great Grey Owl...reprocessed from 2 years ago. I'm having way too much fun with Lightroom CC. Should have dropped Aperture a long time ago.

Stunning Cheese! So much impact, a great capture and post. I like the black and white conversion here, any tricks as to how you got it so tonally epic? :D

I hear you on Aperture. I too can't believe I stuck with Aperture's editing tools for so long. The first time I tried LRs shadows tool I was blown away - it brightens only the dark land, and not decontrast everything into mush like Aperture does... incredible!

A nice shot. Just my initial thoughts but the bokeh feels a bit forced or exaggerated. Not sure if that was in post. Also, it feels a little odd that she's in the woods but wearing heels. Of course it matters what your intention was for this shoot but it might have been nice to have her barefoot, hair down and really in this natural setting.

1) Added a graduated filter to decrease exposure (significantly) from left to right
2) Added a radial filter to decrease exposure a little bit further but in an oval pattern and just on the right side (kind of a selective vignette type thing)
3) B&W

I'm not suggesting I'd do this sort of thing often and of course it's not to everyone's taste but I do enjoy exploring possibilities.

Stunning, what are the flowers in the background? They have a peculiar bloom. Lovely.

It's a Magnolia. :)

I liked the first one very much but like this one better. The oof blossoms add something to the picture without detracting from the main subject. Beautiful.

Not the classic view of the lake windermere, but I had to work with the Fog

This is a stunning photograph. I can see it printed on canvas and hung on your wall!

Thanks Ish. I like this one better too. I was pleased that the flash looked like natural sunlight and not harsh in any way. I'm really enjoying learning to use off camera flash. It's challenging but rewarding when I get it right.

Made some changes to my gear (still ongoing) over the past 2 weeks. I went ahead and took the plunge into the world of legacy all-manual lenses adapted to a Sony A7II body. Had to take a bit of time to "learn" the new toys. I've discovered that I MUCH prefer manually focusing (slows me down and makes me think about my capture, rather than being snap-happy with modern AF lenses). I also love the size and weight reduction that comes with carrying these tiny rangefinder-sized lenses.

But it's now time to get back to the daily photo thread...

Those things in LR are not that difficult. But I'd have never thought to use the Grad tool that way. Its like camera equipment. I should produce some of the best images around with my gear, but it's the monkey with his finger on the button letting the side down!

Love manual lenses too for that reason and also the character you get but be careful... I got hooked and my GAS has taken me from sublime Jenas through FDs and M42s to the Voigtlander then on to Leitz M into Leica Summiluxes.

I know it isnt the same league as you guys and you probably havent noticed it, but you all have been responding more positively to my images, and i get more people fav'ing my stuff on Flickr now i am shooting with my 35 and 50 asph. luxes. So legacy lenses get expensive hell of a quick if you have GAS.

Learn to love your 55 FE it is cheaper in the long run... :)
