Surf's up in Oahu

I love this. The fact that it's a flower rather than the usual feeder makes it look much more natural.

Another exceptional shot. No slackers on here today.

Summer is here! Well spring at least. The colour of that sea looks so inviting.

Selective colour is like Marmite. People either love it or hate it. In this shot I like it.

About half an hour after sunrise the mist descended. 10 minutes after this it was gone completely.

Comments always welcome.

Wow you just keep raising the bar on these hummingbird shots mate. Gorgeous!

Great shot Adam. Lovely lighting.

I agree with AFB on this. I'm not a big fan of selective colour photos but this works really well. What a great idea.

I'm jumping on this band wagon...

This is one of your best MCH-1138. The flower included provides perspective. Well done.

Love the creativity of this shot alvse. Of course I also love Marmite. ;)

Great atmosphere AFB...really nice shot.

Thanks C&A. Must and fog can either kill or make a shot. I just got lucky with this one.

Suggestions, please, for what might be on the menu at the Arousal Café... :p

They cannot spell 'Carousel'?

My mistake. I commented before reading all the earlier responses. The Medical Reference Award goes to... drum roll... Spotted Dick.

How well I recall all those English school lunches :)

Suet puddings accompanied almost all the meals in one form or another. Mostly as desserts but also in savoury forms to go with main courses. We didn't care; it was fine healthy 'stodge' to fill up hungry, active kids. This was long ago. We paid sixpence a day for a hearty mid-day meal. Half-a-crown a week!

Fantastic - what more to say.

Many thanks, AFB, MacRy, Anotherscotsman, and Cheese&Apple, for the kind words. I like how the flower provides a bit of environmental context and a sense of scale for the bird. I have some other ideas kicking around, but we'll see how they play out.

Of course I also love Marmite. ;)

Now I am suddenly questioning your judgment, Peter... ;)

This is really well done, Adam -- great lighting, nice subtle detail, and rich tones throughout the frame.

Great photos by all today.

Not a stunning photo, but more interestingly I was warned off from taking pictures by the security.
I tried pointing out that it wasn't against the law, but to no avail.

A debatable point. These malls are 'public' for those who have money to spend. But if you want to take pictures, or just have a sit-down, you suddenly find they're 'private'. The proliferation of 'public/private' places is becoming a real problem, IMO...

I'm trying to economise on pixels... :p

Agreed, but to be fair I did ask if they would allow me at some point and was told to approach the office bods.

Nice pair of canoeists, lost at sea?

Cheers :)
