WOW...this is spectacular AlaskaMoose

Another well thought out and beautiful capture MCH-1138...love the flowers in these shots.

Great shots AFB...windmills have a ton of character. Just a suggestion and just for fun, if you can get there for another sunrise, try putting the windmill between you and the sun...peeking through the columns type thing.

This guy turned up after me with his drone. I was lining up a shot through the windmill when I caught a glimpse of his drone flying through my shot. I asked if he would mind coming back and hovering for a bit for this one. In fact the deserted windmill I was expecting turned out to have 5 photographers their at 6:30 on a bank holiday morning.
It's about an hour away, so if I do go back I think I'll try a sunset (tonight's would have been stunning!) as the orientation of the windmill suits that better.

Thank you Peter

:D Very soon there will be too much daylight. Them by mid September, just before the winter arrives, the Auroras are usually present on dark nights. But since the temperature is slightly milder by March, this is a good month to be out there at night. It's still cold, but most times from -10 degrees F. to +35 degrees, but my warm car is usually parked a few feet away :)

Beautiful watches. Got to start photographing some collectibles in this fashion.
Curious. What surface is that sitting on and how are you lighting these watches?

It's a very sophisticated setup: An ironing board with an A4 piece of shiny black card on it to put the watch on and a black leather watch case behind the watch for the background.

Lit with a strobe bouncing off of the ceiling at full power and one off to the right hand side pointing at the watch at about 1/64th power.

Approaching the Juan Fernandez Islands

I received back my digitally converted 35mm Kodachrome slides from my trip around South American in 1994 complements of the US Navy. This was taken from the lookout station next to the bridge as we were approaching the harbor of the Juan Fernandez Islands off the coast of Chile. It was here where a Dutch ship marooned one of its sailors for insubordination which led to Dan Defoe's novel, Robinson Crusoe

That's a very well trained model you have. Well, not "just a model hummingbird," but a super model one. :)

He's certainly nailed that technique hasn't he. I tried to set my camera up in the garden, but the Nikon wifi is a bit flaky if I go back in the house.

Thanks, guys -- for a second there, I thought you were on to my collection of model birds. I thought for sure that these would lead to a string of Monty Python references. :)

You're making me a little nostalgic about my time at sea, Fcortese. Is this a Knox-class frigate?
