Another NIK freebie playabout. Can do a lot of the stuff in C1P relatively easily except for the textures (e.g. old/degraded film) that I would use Pixelmatr for. SOOC photos were pretty poor with lots of elections on glass and a general haze above the city. Comments always appreciated.

Great !!!! Looks like something from the 1920's , 30's ,or 40's . Taken from 1 World Trade?

I think this is amazing!
[doublepost=1459766666][/doublepost]So, I went out for lunch with the girls yesterday and took a picture of an ornate lamp on the wall outside the Busby Hotel in Glasgow.

I took the picture but I was left wanting something from it. It felt cold and sterile so I had a play in LR.

I know I am only allowed one image a day and I could PS them together but I wanted to post both and get comments.

The monastery on the small island of Iona was found in 563 AD by St Columba, but the abbey in the pic - behind the tiny chapel - dates from the 12th century…

Got it in one! The post was one way to get rid of the polarisation artefacts on the coated glass in the viewing deck - polariser reduced reflections but resulted in horrible streaks that I disguised as "distressed" effects....

Comment 1: jealous of your picture making skills! Very nice indeed
Cheers Ken, much appreciated.

As Ish said. Much better composition from yesterday's. Love it.

Not really remembering film, I hardly touch my film emulation stuff. I have Nik and DXO filmpack 5 (both free).
Anyway loving the cityscapes.

Another shot from one of my recent shoots.

Not too recent I hope! Great shot. The warm colours and the warm clothing contrast beautifully with the cold, blue background.

Another one from my garden I'm afraid.

And yes I don't usually shoot flowers with a 200-500mm lens!

Now that's heather. :) Nothing wrong with using a long lens to get close ups!

So much for spring ;) The northeast coast of the US got hit with a late winter storm that dumped quite a bit of snow today. Have to see if the flowers survive.

Nice picture, but not nice being able to take it in April! :(

Another wet weekend here I'm afraid....don't do a lot of selective colour but in this case, the SOOC was little different! Comments always appreciated.

Wet day at New Brighton

Well Scotsman your ability to evoke nostalgia for my youth continues to amaze me ... the indoor fair at New Brighton was an occasional treat that even made the long bus ride (with a change at Woodside) worthwhile. Again, nice use of selective color.

For the semi industrial look you should check out the riverfront at New Ferry, Rock Ferry and Eastham.

Well at least I got that right! The fact that it was in my garden though means I really should have changed lenses!

While out walking Bob I saw a squirrel sitting on a tree stump looking as photogenic as can be...... unfortunately Bob also saw it and by the time I raised my camera to my eye it was halfway up a tree with acorn in mouth. Unfortunately I only had a 90mm on me at the time.

Thanks Ian although with conditions like those in the photo, I wonder how nostalgic you get:)

That is a very nice shot. Are you doing something, like free lensing, with the helios lens to get that really swirly bokeh? I've shot with a helios and I've never gotten that much effect from it.
No, not free lensing; my Helios was pretty much surplus once I got my hands on a Nikkor-S 50mm 1.4, so I reversed the front element to get a greater effect.
Of course, it won't focus as sharply now but I quite like it.

Cheers :)
