Same flower that I posted a few days back .(see post #72) I've been playing around with UV fluorescence for around a year or so , and decided to experiment with getting this flower to fluoresce. Knowing tonic water glows under black light , and remembering the capillary action experiment from school where a celery stalk drew up colored water , plus some research online , I decided to immerse the cut flower stem in tonic water , and see what happens . The flower was put inside my 'black box' , a cube made of black foam core around 20" on each side with one end open . Illumination was via a hand held UV flashlight , plus a small amount of room light from the other side of the basement . The result was interesting , but different than I'd expected . Ratcheted the experiment up a few notches later in the evening , but that's for tomorrow , don't want to be snatched off the street by the POTD police !

Met a new friend on a hike today. :D
Actually, with it's head raised, it did give me some concern as usually relaxed on ground. At least didn't start hissing which has happened twice in the past. Those I really give some distance.

In 1984 my wife and I rode our motorcycles around Florida, starting at Tampa, over to the east coast, down to the keys and back across the everglades. We stopped at a rest area on Hwy 41 and we heard this loud croak, my wife asked another person there if they had big frogs, he said no that was an alligator! She hopped on her bike and was out of there, didn't even wait for me!

Some fresh paint and it's as good as new!

Looks grumpy. Sick of the snow?
😁 Maybe running out of food. It has been snowing for the past few days. It finally stopped yesterday, so I had to pull the snowblower out of the garage to clear around 12 inches of snow from the driveway. The temperature was around -12 degrees F. by morning.

When the wife and I were on top of Steamboat Rock last weekend we came upon a herd of deer in the distance. They were having none of us so they headed up a ridge. I had my 18-55mm lense attached, so no close ups, but I still liked that they remained on top of the ridge for a couple of shots. If you look closely you can see half the herd was still ascending the ridge in this shot:
