Gorgeous model! I'm a sucker for a big cat. I think I might need to update my lens before I attempt our local zoo.

Yeah, if all you have is an 18-55 kit lens then you're likely to struggle in a lot of situations on the long end. I shoot Canon, so I can't recommend a good Nikon lens, but I use a 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 for most of my zoo shots. If I'm putting the 18-55 on at the zoo it's because I'm getting up and personal on the wide end at 18mm. Typically this is only because of situations that arise because I work at the zoo, or because our zoo affords many opportunities to get up close and personal with a lot of the animals.

Your photos always catch the mood of your models really well. The photos (had a look on Flickr at the series) tell the story really well. Keep up the good work!

Thanks still got another 20 to scan and upload so I will make sure I post them when they are up!

^^^ Very nice SOG! You have to like a shot with a cowboy.

Thanks!! The picture was shot in Monument Valley at a site called 'John Ford's Point' . I was out on the point shooting about 10 minutes or so before this shot . On my way back to the car , theres a fenced in area with a sign saying something like " Your picture on horseback $2.00'" or some such .(No thanks ... last time I put 2.00 on a horse was the 8th race at the Meadowlands .) So I'm putting my stuff back in the car when up comes 2 truckloads of tourists , who swarm over the parking area . At about the same time this guy comes riding out of the fenced in area onto the Point . Quick grabbed my camera and got off a few shots , should have stopped down some but I didn't have more than a few minutes ,and wasn't thinking . Anyway , the guy is apparently paid by the tour company to ride up onto the point when the tour trucks come. Sometimes you plan your shot ,other times someone else does .

One for today.....
