To continue the chicken theme... I took a couple of friends to Piel Island yesterday, a quirky spot in a part of Cumbria that tourists seldom see. On an island you can walk around in ten minutes, there is a 14th century castle, a block of eight terraced houses, and, like some mirage, a fully functioning pub. We were having a beer and a snack outside when this chicken decided to join in.

I've uploaded the pic to my online agency. Of course, when buyers do a search for 'chicken & chips', this may not be the shot they have in mind. :)

Went to the Bristol Balloon festival this morning. Had to get up at 4 AM to get there for the mass ascension. Now my wife thinks I'm nuts! Anyway expect lots more of these this week! As they all launch pretty quick I'm afraid is was pretty much auto all the way (being a beginner an all). Didn't want to miss any action fiddling with ISO etc.
As always comments appreciated.

A good friend of mine got married recently and this is what his lovely bride arrived in....

Never heard of Piel Island (I should visit that bit of Cumbria some day). Fully functioning pub sounds like it's a place I need to visit!

Lovely place (St Ives) - also I've stopped in the guest house on the right! Used to be known as The Kandahar (was painted on the sea wall)

Hah that's so cool! Yeah it really is such a nice place, at night when it was warm I really did feel like I was in Europe on my holidays!

Was out for a walk in the woods yesterday and came across this just lying on the path. No sign of the owner though. I imagine a shallow grave was somewhere nearby.

Taken in St Ives, just before I went on a ghost walk with Shanty Baba!

Cracking shot, that lovely time when ambient starts to meet practical lighting.

Still wading through my scans and still struggling to get the colours balanced well enough for my liking.

Anyone feel this is too warm or too green?

'Wishes' Fireworks at the Magic Kingdom

I had to wait for almost 2.5 hours in front of the Partners statue in order to secure my spot for the sake of this picture. Probably won't be doing that again anytime soon! :)

Funny I didn't notice the grass! My eye was drawn elsewhere!

It looks okay on my monitor (although everybody's will be different, so take colour advice with a pinch of salt). The thing with grass is it can vary in colour an awful lot. How do you remember it looking? It certainly doesn't look odd to me.

I love the sharpness in this picture. The bee is a particular dark specimen. As you posted a j-peg, do you mind sharing your set up and settings?

Thanks for the comment Archie , St Ive's is definitely a pretty place when it starts to get dark.

Again, like apple fanboy says the grass looks good to me! It looks like a very natural shade to my eyes ... That's a really cool composition though! The positioning of the girl makes it seem like she is sunbathing in the biggest garden ever! Could you describe your thought process of placing the girl towards the bottom left? It really works, but I'm not sure why it works! Was that the intention to emphasise the large space she was in?

Thanks. This photo was taken in the back yard of my in-laws. My father-in-law has a massive flower and vegetable garden. This little guy was busy gathering gold dust.

Photo was taken with my Nikon D600 using a Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 Macro - Handheld. Settings are below and sky was light overcast.
