It might be the lighting for the shot or my monitor Justin but the coffee looks quite orange to me.

~ Peter

It was the lighting in the shop. I could have cooled the WB in post a touch, but I wanted to keep the cup close to white, and to keep the feel of the cafe it was taken in. Additionally, the latte was made with a flavored milk that may have had a slight orange tint to it. So... yes, it is a bit orange.

Still at the state art gallery... Hot rocks... Nobody dared to touch them, even with the written invitation on the floor... I was all over them, quick smart! Touchy-feely thing I am...

you should have used a thermographic camera

we cannot perceive the temperature through a picture, through a monitor, on the internet in a photography subforum

your description falls short. did YOU touch them appropriately?

thank you very much

--edit

is this exhibition in which you are showing off your work?

1. I do not own a thermographic camera, is there an app for that? I have an iPhone... ;)

2. What? You're not psychic?! Hence the picture being taken showing the power cables entering the rocks to allude to the "Hot Rocks" bit...

3. I fondled them good :p

4. No, my showing is in a Bar & Grill, in their functions room, in a few weeks time. Only those that have made the big-time get exhibited in the state art gallery. I am but an over-keen enthusiast...

5. Thank you for the feedback and guidance, next time I shall include an artistic statement with my images ;)

Mine for today. I was at a dimly-lit restaurant with my gf and it had one of these candles on every table. Ever the opportunist, I whipped out my camera and asked my gf to hold one. I swear to god she has infinite patience with my photography requests :)

Others might be able to help out here, but I notice on my DSLR that when I take a photo of a red flower, the red channel is always blown out even when the rest is exposed correctly. Taking a look at yours, I think the red is also over exposed. It's difficult to tell though. Can you manipulate the channels in your PP software? What does the red look like in the histogram?

Yep, I reckon youre right, the red is too high.
The one I took with the old 18-55 (as comparison, at 35mm) was more representative of the colour, but not so sharp.
It is a very bright flower though.

Cheers :)
