Pick TV !!

Downloaded and installed ColorChecker and ColorCheckerPassport plugin for Lightroom.

Now trying to work out how to use it.

The other option might be to drop the exposure a tad when taking photos of red flowers with this lens

Cheers :)

Pick TV Lol. Have been re-watching Farscape with my daughter. It finishes this Wednesday, and she isn't going to be happy.

Well, Stargate SG1 immediately follows Farscape :)

Cheers :)

Hugh

yeah but she hats it. She refers to Tilc as the man with the chocolate coin stuck to his head! I've seen them all before. Stargate Atlantis starts on Thursday in the Farscape slot. Worth a look if you haven't seen them as well.

Wonderful sense of space and proportion, Peter.

Wow. Stunning.

Thanks guys...much appreciated.

I was a little disappointed by the absence of accessible wildlife but the beautiful scenery and skies made up for it.

Don't get me wrong – the wildlife is there but Alaska is just so vast and much of it so remote that the best way to get around to see the wildlife is by float plane. You can't blame the critters for wanting to live as far from the crazy tourists as possible.

Yep, seen Atlantis all the way through last time they showed it, and the one with the old space ship they found (can't remember the name).

I sometimes have to watch it on the laptop though as my wife is not too keen.
Get no distractions then if I use headphones :)

Cheers :)

Universe. Pity it wasn't finished.

Anyway to get this back on track, Had a pretty unsparing weekend. Wen't for a drive in the countryside to find a good location for sunsets, and didn't really find what I was looking for. So went for a walk anyway (after nearly running out of petrol) and took three shots before it started to rain.

If you don't include depth of water, some wildlife in Alaska is kinda/sort of accessible - Humpback whale fluke:

First attempt at some sort of landscape photography:

It's difficult, I was in the Isle Of Wight and everywhere I look is beautiful but as soon as I take a picture it's just dull and uninspiring.

Well I think the scene is quite nice. Something looks a bit off with the PP though. Like the green caravans in the background and those clouds.
What was your process?

I boosted the greens to make the marsh stuff look more appealing, it looked kind of gloomy before, I think that ruined the colour of the caravans.

I used a graduated filter to warm up the sky a little and messed around with the shadows and highlights over the whole image.

I think I have gone overboard with the PP. It wasn't really a scene I was that interested in so tried to fix it with PP which I know is a massive mistake really.

I think it looks pretty cool... I would have cloned out the caravans.

Long Meg and her Daughters is a circle of 59 standing stones in Cumbria. 'Long Meg' is sandstone (unlike the other stones) and is by far the tallest.

I've finally taken the plunge: replacing my old D200 with a D610, plus Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 and Sigma 70-210mm f2.8. First impressions: I'm loving the extra detail and quality, but there's a big difference in weight...

That's a nice set up. In your hands I'm sure the results will be outstanding.

Beautiful. I love the contrasting warmth in the foreground (rock color, green pasture) and the ominous grey clouds in the background.

at first, I thought the whale type was called fluke, which was weird, then I read AFB's comment.
