The view out my hotel window:

I very much like this picture. The lines, the squares formed by the windows, and most definitely the overall grayness of the picture with dabs of color front and center. There is also the question (in my mind) of what is shining so bright in the upper left to cause that much glow?

Where is this?

I was staying at the Marriott Marquis at Time Square (NYC)... if i recall correctly, I was looking eastward out of my hotel room at an office building. The Marriott Marquis sits on Broadway-7th Av between 45th and 46th Streets at the south end of Times Square.

The glow is just the dusk sky. I added a vignette effect to the photo, and that may have given the illusion that there was an artificial source of the glow.

Nice spot Hugh and a darn sight better weather than we are getting further North... Is it my eyes or is there a bit of a halo around the higher contrast areas? Something in post?
Yes you're probably right. It was a very nice bright day and I played around with shadows / highlights when I got home.

I may have gone too far, but I'm still not that clever with post processing.

Cheers :)

Hugh
