Was it after burning man last year you posted pictures of the cameras looking like they had been dug up in the desert?
[doublepost=1533591031][/doublepost]

Now you know I am a fan of your macro work but if I maybe so bold as to make a suggestion, I think this one needs a little bit more DoF.

Yes, you are probably (most definitely) right and I thought of that after I saw them on the computer, but I was too lazy to take the 10 steps outside my door to reshoot. :eek: But great idea for a different view some other day when I am running out of ideas. :)

More Baltimore kitsch. Or just kinda weird depending on your viewpoint (my daughters!). But it makes life a little bit more fun around here because of things like this. :)

Fluid Movement is a local group that puts on a yearly water ballet show (i.e., synchronized swimming) that I experienced for the first time yesterday. The theme of this years show was Alfred Hitchcock. Performances included 'The Birds', 'Psycho', and 'Vertigo'. This picture below is from 'The Birds' at which point our protagonist is trying to get away from the dastardly creatures.

FWIW Baltimore's two professional sports teams both have birds as mascots. The Baltimore Ravens (American football) colors are purple and black and the Baltimore Orioles (baseball) colors are orange and black. Hence the colors of the outfits which gives the show a little bit of local flavor.

I'm glad you posted an explanation as I'm afraid I'd have been very confused!

It was very tempting to just post the picture and let it stand on its own. Maybe next time. :)

Hopefully I don’t run into these ladies driving around town. :D

I'm thinking it's just some people having fun, each to their own and all that.
To be honest it would probably make me laugh. It is an interpretation of a classic and that takes some balls!!

You are so right in that it is done in good fun. This group gets together and they get camaraderie, exercise, and in the end put on a (wacky) show. And they definitely have guts if you ask me! :)

I may have posted it last year but the photo was from my first burn in 2014. To date that is the worst the cameras have been after the event. I wanted to do a sunset timelapse and there was a complete whiteout dust storm in the late afternoon. As it was starting to clear up I setup the timelapse and started shooting. Every five or ten minutes I would blow the dust off the lens between shots. This will be year five without any protection besides the weatherproofing build into the Nikons.

This year I'll be on Playa for sixteen days so I might set a new camera dust record. ;)

Another flower pic (this time a sunflower) with the Nikon 85mm TS lens tilted slightly down to change the plane of focus. 1/60th sec, f/11, ISO 64 with handheld external flash through a diffuser attachment (Rogue FlashBender 2) to soften the light. To get the flash off the camera I used the Nikon wired solution that connects the flash to the hot-shoe with a cord--works great for macro work without having to invest in more expensive wireless options ;)
