The butterflies are everywhere this year already. I guess it's been a good year for them.

Congratulations! How do you like it so far?

Thank you! I love it! Still tweaking settings, though -- the menu system is arranged differently than in the A7R IV and previous Sonys, and at first I was rather disconcerted but now I'm already beginning to be more comfortable with it. Kind of like when someone rearranges the furniture in a room where you'd spent many hours and knew exactly where everything is -- all of a sudden it all looks so different! Once I am sure I've got all the basics tweaked to my satisfaction then I'll set up the customization buttons. I'm liking having the additional dials on this camera body, too; saves menu-diving when one just wants to make a quick change and doesn't have a custom button set up.

The AF is definitely faster -- whew! So is the Continuous High and I have to be mindful not to just keep my finger pressing that shutter button! It'll be very handy when I eventually encounter a fast-moving bird or animal but so far that hasn't happened. The color rendering seems better and everything seems clearer, both in the EVF and in the computer when I'm reviewing prior to processing.

So far I've used three lenses with it (90mm G macro, 100-400mm GM and 12-24mm GM) and they all seem perkier (yeah, I know, sounds just like what we say when we get a software update: "Safari is faster!" LOL!). This camera brings out the best in each lens, just as the A7R IV does, and it is noticeable in use and in post-processing. Obviously the GM lenses are also going to bring out the best in the camera as well. As time goes on of course all of my lenses will have their turn to play on her!

It is nice having two camera bodies again; I'd missed that. It'll be especially handy when going to a botanical garden or somewhere, as I can have a long lens on the A1 and a macro lens on the A7R IV and easily switch between cameras as needed. Then the wide-angle lens could be along for the ride and easily swapped out with the macro on the A7R IV.
My plan and intention is to pretty much use the A1 as the walk-around/wildlife camera and the A7R IV as my macro/closeup/tabletop camera. Obviously, though, either camera can still do what is needed when it's needed.

Did you use a large format camera to maintain the vertical straightness of the buildings, or was it done in photo software?

The picture was taken on my old D610 with the 24-120/4 Nikkon lens at 31mm. No parallel lines adjustment done in post processing, other than the automatic lens correction applied by DxO.

The subject offered for some neat lines, horizontal, vertical, as well as perpective view, and the close to 35mm on FX also helped to have only minimal deformations.

Very pretty rocks and grass arrangement!
Thanks! I like the way the grasses bend with the wind. The dry stream takes up much of the courtyard, and they have planted several different flowers and the tall grasses along its banks. Looks rather nice, and better than just a grass lawn.
Cheers!
