As winter nears the leaves turn color. This is a wild berry that grows in the interior of Alaska. Some people call it "high bush cranberry," but I have no idea if that's the name of this berry family. It sort of tastes like cranberry, but it is so... sour or tangy!

Great photo .. seeing it sure caught my eye too!! I'm always on the look for fallen trees, decaying stumps, logs, and such, and would have enjoyed seeing this one in person.
