YES, HELLO! I am Mattie, your official door greeter!

Mattie is on loan to me by a very dear friend. I lost my own black Lab end of May to cancer with no warning.
This sweet girl has literally kept m from ending up in a padded cell with a crayon between my toes. She is very special indeed.

iPhone 6 and Photoshop because.....ancient iPhone 6 camera. ?

Wild Rose And Wind Belt
The last of the orphans. In this case 4 Trumpeter Swans. I originally spotted these two pairs about 20 miles north of this lake. They were nesting next to a small dugout (catch basin) in a ranchers pasture. The next time I drove by he had turned some his cattle into the field and the swans were gone, I am guessing their nests were destroyed by the cattle. About a month later they were swimming in Beauvais Lake. My Olympus waterproof camera at that time, had a long lens equivalent of about 105mm so I had to get fairly close and do a bit of additional cropping after the shot. Not the best swan shot you will ever see, but given that they were moving and my boat was moving, and the limits of the camera, I am reasonably pleased with it.

Isn't this a fish photo? :)
LOL! Well, fish was sure on HIS menu! Yesterday afternoon I casually glanced out the sliding door and saw several of the Hooded Mergansers fairly close to my side of the lake, so grabbed the RX10 IV camera, which was on a table nearby, and went out on the deck to take a few shots. I noticed this one guy flipping and flopping around, and it didn't look like the usual grooming or playing behavior I've seen before, so zoomed in on him and as I looked at him, I realized he was having an epic battle with his anticipated lunch. Fascinating to watch as the two of them wrestled and the fish tried to escape....

Glad the little Sony is still getting some use.

Yes, I have used my RX10 IV with its 24mm - 600mm lens (35mm equiv on a 1-inch sensor) quite a bit even though I do have the A7R IV now. I think image quality would have been better with the A7R IV and either the Bazooka or the 100-400mm (with 1.4x TC), but I have found that when I see something going on out there on the lake, it's best to hustle myself and a camera out there as quickly as possible, as situations change rapidly. Better to grab the RX10 IV and get some shots than to lose the opportunity altogether because I was putting the 100-400mm on the A7R IV or hauling the tripod out to the deck to use with the Bazooka.

The camera which really hasn't gotten much action at all this year has been the RX100 VII. That's the one I take on trips and use at concerts (when it is permitted), and of course there has been no traveling, no concerts, etc., in 2020. Occasionally I have pulled it out and used it when a situation seems right for it, but I really prefer the larger RX10 IV with its greater focal length and range and also because it feels and behaves similarly to a DSLR. The A7R IV still rules my little camera family, though!
