More point 'n shoot...

Nothing really artistic or creative here... just a sample of the macro mode with the Lumix LZ8 digicam. Program mode, macro.

There's something still and peaceful about this shot. It breaks all the 'rules' of composition... but just works. I could see it being combined with a few words (verse or prose).

The reflected light to the left of the hands are a bit off-putting, to me at least; I wonder if they could be cloned out...

thanks. yeah I really didn't edit the pictures because the colors were so wonderful already. But I get what you mean about that streak, ill see what i can work with in PS

Another shot out of boredom... it seems like shallow DOF is what I revert to when I'm bored :p Props to anyone who can tell what book it is!

The Moon

The moon was simply gorgeous tonight!
My daughter called from Oregon to tell us to check it out here at home in Alaska. So, just before dinner I grabbed the tripod and snapped a few frames. Took some with an Old Nikon E series f/2.8, 100 mm lens, Total Manual operation on our D80, and more with the Kit lens. 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6. (cant wait until the new 50mm 1.2 and 55-200mm lens we ordered arrived.) The 100 mm lens was able to grab some of he moon's geographical features, but still a bit fuzzy. This shot was from with the kit lens, see the shot details below.

Anyway, as I shot from my front deck, I was forced to do a bit of PhotoShop work to remove the power lines. The only time I see them anymore is when I take photos...

Homer's Odyssey...
Well done. I hope it wasn't as boring to you as it was to me. ;) It only got good toward the end, really.

Nice shot, RHVC59. I especially like the reflections. Great edit job too, I was switching back and forth and it was flawless.

This weekend, went to visit an island famous in Japanese history as the site of a historic battle between two warlords. I was surprised to find a junkyard there. Nothing magical but I thought I`d better lose my photo-posting virginity sooner rather than later.

comments welcome :p

the light was completely flat and it was a nice, balmy 35 degrees f. i managed to find this, which is somewhat cliched but somewhat neat at the same time. i loved the green of the fence.

There's a full moon tonight. This one was taken last December.

Very Nice! Just out of curiosity do you do any sort of astrophotography? I am just now getting into it myself. I am in the equipment buying stage and have yet to shoot anything. I have my scopes ordered, I just need a nice imaging unit. I am a huge astrology nut so I guess it was just a matter of time before I started shooting this stuff.

There is something very surreal about the center area of that photography. Almost feels cartoonish in nature. Very interesting.
I'm assuming you're talking about the effects of the HDR process. You can get some pretty cool stuff from it, although I haven't tried it myself. I should probably get around to trying it. :) For good examples, valdore and nuwomb both have great HDRs they post.

Oops, forgot to post mine for the day.
