Then you should be able to sharpen to your heart's content! IMO it doesn't suit all photos though. Street, to me, can take more sharpening than landscapes. :)
Nothing worse than over sharpening though!

What's this photography course your going to on the 18th then. Anything good?
[doublepost=1455559314][/doublepost]
Yeah but that is the thing, I cant seem to get images crisp and vibrant the way say @anotherscotsman does on here. My images always look dull. I have tried tripod and handheld, low iso, but it frustrates me you know? I so want to be able to take nice sharp images. I practice my stance, my focus, I try to explore with getting ISO as low as possible to get the cleanest shots. The only thing I havent tried is stacking. You see it when @MacRy goes and gets himself an A7 and starts putting out images I could only dream of... I wanna be good at this... :-(

Dont get me wrong, I am frustrated in a "keep going until I get it" way, but it is really annoying me you know? and I know I am armed with the best sensor on the market right now and some of the most sought after glass so it is definitely me that is the issue. :)
Plus the way you persevere your own images and the images of others.

Hmm, on the whole my images are just dull.... I want to liven them up a bit... do you know what I mean?

If you don't mind me chipping in, I think you need to relax.

I went through a period of taking photos, any photos, because I felt pressure to upload something, anything.

Now hopefully I've relaxed a bit and be maybe more selective about what I keep, and I'm doing it to please me, not others.

Cheers :)

Being selective is good advice. As someone once said the difference between a pro and an ameture photographer is a pro only shows you their best work.
I do. But I think your being a little hard on yourself.

Ken man you need to take a good look at your photos and appreciate the quality you have. You've taken some great shots with your cameras and you should be proud of them.

There are no end of shots that you've taken that I've seen and thought "I wish I'd have taken that!"

Just a thought - have you tried shooting JPEG for a while so you've got a good base to work on and make tweaks to rather than having to do all the PP yourself? I only shoot JPEG as I can't be buggered with messing around with RAWs or having huge files knocking about on my hard drive.

You know Ish's comment earlier made me think that too... I find that shooting camera in full auto yields nice images in jpeg and then i fail to reproduce them in pp with the raw so yeah I may try that.

I have noticed though... this time of year I get in a right funk. Wonder if it is just the crap grey weather getting me down...

Thanks for the wonderful comments, you are too kind. All of you.

Same here, JPEG only. Saves the mucking around later, and if it don't look right it shouldn't stay.

Cheers :)

Great, now feel better about yourself as you can produce stunning images, don't get so pressured, and then you can help me weed out the crap from my Flickr :D

Cheers :)

Another of the kiddo. Was banging on his xylophone and then ran over to me on the couch and got transfixed by items on a table to the left out of the frame. When shooting him, a relatively fast (f/2.8) mid-range zoom has proven to be my favorite lens. I love primes, but he moves faster than I can change my shooting position (or lens!).

Yes, I agree. I should have said to the way he wants it rather than implying just move the slider over to the right! :)

I'm going to do a street photography workshop with Kevin Mullins in London. Looking forward to it but have you seen the forecast?? :( Snow's good for photos but not for travelling. Coming to the end of a very mild winter and now, on that one particular day …

Looks sharp to me.

Agreed!

I do. But I think your being a little hard on yourself.

Agreed, and that's an excellent suggestion. Sony's produce very crisp JPEGS imo. I shoot mostly this way myself. I know there's a lot of talk about serious shooters using raw, but when you have a camera that will take good JPEGS, like MacRy's or my Fuji X's why not make the most of it? I know the Fuji JPEGS have a lot of leeway for processing. If it matters to me I'll shoot both. I think three times over the last couple of years I've gone to the raw file for the extra dynamic range.

We all think you're marvellous Ken ;)

Agreed! :)

I cropped the image I posted earlier... better I think, must do more out of camera cropping.

I like it. I am wondering if you could drop the highlights a tad and maybe just widen the crop to get the full stool in on the right? Usual caveat: I know nothing, feel free to ignore me.
