Down at the local beach tonight, about an hour before sunset.

NO!!!! what an absolute waste of their time. Unless they are into photography too... in which case it will take forever as they stop every 100 yards for a snap as of the Trossachs. lol...
They are but they won't. They are going there to update the photography department of the RAF and bring back the old kit. No camera or lenses this time though :(

This was incredible to see. The cloud toupee was rolling down the side of the mountain. Was absolutely mesmerising. When they say a weather front is rolling in, I can honestly say I know what they mean now!

Love it. Looks like a boiling cauldron.

Is that a man made jetty?

Mate next time suggest sending it up to me and I will go do it for you... :)

It did look like a cauldron bubbling over yes...

Ha ha ha ha ha.... Macs are easy compared to the gear I play with at work.... If I can design a 1024 node super compute frame for computational fluid dynamics for Formula E, I can swap out a few iMacs.... :)
No iMacs mate. Mac mini or MacBook Pro. That way I get to supply the monitors! Let's just say I did 200% of target in January, so looking forward to a little bonus at the end of the month!

Formula E? Not enough petrol for my liking!

It's another day down under, so here's the pared-back version of the last image, where I moved a little closer to the giant sandbags and the water and removed a whole stack of detritus from the frame in PP, including a whole bunch of people who didn't move very much.

Yeah, but, no... It's a bunch of giant sandbags that the surf life savers use to launch their longboats from. They are about 1500x1500mm in size and get replaced once or twice a year as they get thrown about quite a bit during storms and severe seas, even though we are way up in a gulf here.

I bought an iPhone 8 last month and I'm going to explore taking pictures with it more often (since I have it on me most of the time). I've even signed up to take a six week evening continuing education course entitled iPhone Photography which starts next week. I like capturing things that catch my eye like the picture above when I don't have my camera.

Fun little story from today. Some time ago I joined Pixsy to see if any of my images were being used without my consent. At the time I joined, none were and I kind of forgot about it. Today I got an email from Pixsy with several examples of potential commercial use of my photos. Most were wrong (moon pics, a few iconic pics from Rome or Alcatraz that weren't mine but I could see the confusion). Then I found one example that was clearly one of my images used without my knowledge or consent. Someone had posted a murder mystery story and used most of their own images, but had managed to snag one of mine as part of the story. Pixsy has a takedown button that generates and sends an email to the hosting site that informs the site of alleged DMCA infringement. There is also an option request compensation (with a 50-50 split between you and Pixsy for any damages). Didn't go the thermonuclear route, but the web page with my image has been taken down pending any potential appeals from the poster.

I looked at the original again (from late 2013) and did a re-edit. Felt like sharing (though don't even think about posting it somewhere for commercial use ;)).

The pic on the left is the one from my flickr and the one on the right is from the offending web page. The "Takedown" button is the one I used and generates an email saying there is an alleged infringement under DMCA. The email includes a link to your source image on flickr as proof. The "Submit Case" button allows you to initiate legal proceedings looking for damages from the unauthorized use of your image.

Claim a million for infringement. Then invest it all in fast glass!

Another from the rare, small snow event we had here last week. View attachment 752718
Nice. I was trying to find a composition this morning, but we didn't have enough snow. Should be better tomorrow.
