Well underway! Feel free to pop by. I'll be ready to drop by then. Ken is coming Sunday but he'll be spending all his time on the Leica stand!

Will do, will see if you've got a couple of minutes between customers to catch up! As for Ken, I'm sure he'll drop by, even if it's only to let you know what he thinks to your comments haha! :D;)

Just browsing through the net in my
man cave shed and have found this. I would like to caption this as "Solitude".

Great job.

Wow! What an encore!

Oh yes. Really. Do you need to encourage him? With his trained snow owls, his great lighting and beautiful timing.

LOVE this!

Thank you all...very kind of you to say so.

Funny, I almost scrapped that shot because I didn't like the line between the snow and trees bisecting the owl's wing. I only kept it because, in my experience, it's unusual to see an owl or just about any bird in full flight with her landing gear down like that.

Which LensBaby do you have? I have the Composure Pro II with Sweet 50 optic plus the macro adapters. I love it.
I got hold of a 2nd hand Tilt Transformer for micro 4/3, and I'm using it with an old Nikkor 50mm f/2. My Nikkor 24mm 2.8 arrived today so I have more to experiment with.

Cheers :)

A veritable cornucopia of religious and spiritual iconography, I guess if you're a stall holder and you hedge your bets, you'll sell something. I have never seen a Buddha looking so drunk and wearing a bizarre pith-helmet before though! No wonder Ganesh looks so shocked!

Looking forward to seeing more from your growing Nikon collection.

If that's your Monday morning commute I'm jealous!

It’s actually Tuesday morning (us New Zealanders live in the future you know ;)) and today is Waitangi Day, a national holiday commorating the signing of the treaty of Waitangi, which is the founding document of New Zealand. So it is not my regular morning commute, I went out early to shoot the sunrise.

While I agree that the moon often requires an exposure closer to daylight than what the camera might indicate, I would suggest *not* setting the aperture to f/16 as this is not the optimal aperture for center sharpness on any lens and will introduce diffraction which will degrade sharpness.

Just as very nit-picky comment-

Spherical aberration actually decreases with increasingly smaller aperture.

Of course, as you said, diffraction starts to become an issue and there does come a point(usually somewhere between f/5.6 and f/11, but it's lens specific and sometimes even sample specific) where diffraction works against increasing resolution.
