Well snow showers came early this morning, then the sun poked through the clouds for about an hour, now it's cloudy and there's a snowstorm coming tomorrow. So I am going to go with this photo because I could use some color today.

This is a macro of a crayon I took during my Photo 365 project back in 2015. I did a color theme with crayons. For this photo, I used my old iPhone 6 Plus, however, I can't remember if I used the Olloclip macro attachment lens to get this close.

One of my favourite views in Chicago. A bit clichéd I know but I like it. 2-shot vertical pano with the Samyang T/S. 10-second exposure. Comments always appreciated.

River at night

Nice! Had a summer job in HS at the Wrigley Building (smaller white one on the right) and would often take a ferry from the train station up the river to it in the morning.

Beautiful photo. How did you shoot this? And is it an orchid?

Here's the mono version AFB called for. Comments always appreciated.

A Great Horned Owl...

With what appears to be a bit of attitude.

Alright, I must know....how are you getting these stunning photos of the owls? What's the trick?

For me the color shot seems to bring the focus onto the tracks because of its neutral color against the brick of the buildings. By the way do you know why there seem to be so many track rails on that line? Did they run different gauge trains on it at some time?

Cheers George - that was certainly my wife's opinion but I'm torn between the two versions. I'm no expert but the multiplicity of tracks seems to be a combination of two things, a third power line, cable ducting and overlapping rail segments perhaps to help stop derailing on the curve. The track reverts to the normal (2+1) in each direction on straight sections.

A different pic of the tree swing after a light dusting of snow.

Love the simplicity and mono treatment

I've always been in Chicago in mid-winter so never had the good fortune to been on a river ferry trip (yet).

Thank you. :) Yes, it's an orchid in profile. I really didn't do anything special to shoot this, just handheld my camera with a macro lens, with the flower against a white wall (where it lives). I was actually trying to shoot a different flower on the table in front of me, but it wasn't working well, and when I turned behind me noticed the "tentacle" shape so moved on to that instead.
