Alright, I must know....how are you getting these stunning photos of the owls? What's the trick?
I think it's patience and perseverance.
Absolutely love it!
Incredible image. Nice tension added to it by having it face out frame and turn back.
Or doesn't object to your big glass purchases! Thanks @kgphotos
As Alex said, but I would add "luck" and the benefit of having a circle of like-minded photography friends who are well connected to a larger network of wildlife photographers...if there's an owl, or other wildlife, of interest to photograph within a 4 hour drive from home, we know about it and hit the road.
So I guess I would add "a wonderfully supportive wife" who doesn't object to my odd and long hours away from home.
Thank you both...much appreciated.

The famous sycamore gap.
Just used that edit as my lock screen. Looking good I think.
I was thinking it looked very professional!OK, Explain the picture of the iphone as that is the best quality image you have posted!
I've definitely got a lot more patience now that I'm retired. It's made a huge difference in terms of lifestyle and my approach to photography. We all know it's something you don't want to rush and now I actually feel like I can take the time I want to put into it.Or doesn't object to your big glass purchases!
I think the main thing you have in bucket loads compared to me is patience. You must spend hours waiting to hit the shutter! I'd have got cold and headed for a cup of tea!
Funny you say that. I was out this week in thermals, waterproofs and I wasn't cold at all. In contrast my friend turned up in jeans and trainers and really suffered! Especially as we walked across muddy fields.I've definitely got a lot more patience now that I'm retired. It's made a huge difference in terms of lifestyle and my approach to photography. The other thing that definitely helps at this time of year is really good cold weather clothing. It's taken a couple years, some expense and painful lessons but I think I've got it together now.

Oh yes. Decent hat and gloves are a must. My gloves are fingerless with a mitten part to cover your fingers and thumbs when needed. Great for photography. As they say in Scotland... there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing...
Something simple. For years I just didnt wear hats. Since I started wearing a warm hat when out, such a simple change, but the difference it makes to not making your day a nightmare is amazing.

Some from my couple of days away coming up over the next few days. Felt nice to be out shooting for a change!
My three friends I was with aren't photographers, so I had to grab a couple of minutes when I could.

Is this shot from inside or out? I mean were you trying to looking in or trying to get out?
Not the type with a cord through the sleeves though! My son has some of those and the tag when we bought them called them “glomitts.”
And the spiders are coming!Lol. I’m still trapped.....send help
I can't recall that shot, but I'll have a search. But no, first time I'd been there. On a walk near Wooton Bassett where we stayed for a couple of days. Me and some old friends. Lots of tea rooms were visited! The previous ones were interesting with the number of tracks, but as a picture I like this one best with the bold focal point. Great pic!
Brrr. This is wonderful, but I'm glad I wasn't there!!!
I have a vague memory of a picture of yours ages ago, b&w, taken down a lane line this with a tree on the right(?) and a building on the bend with light reflecting of the puddles. Is it the same place?
Good excuse for a party!
