Lovely macro shot, what kind of lighting did you use, was it all natural ?

Another shot from the shore.

It was midday, and I was mowing the lawn and saw it as I brushed past a butterfly bush in my yard. I ran back to get my camera while it happily munched its lunch.

It seemed to be expecting me to make a grab for that butterfly.

Sole naturale! (natural sun)

Mine for today. How do I make it so that the image links to a Flickr page? Thanks.

your pic reminded me of one that I took last summer...

Brown Thrasher

Sony a700 w/ SAL 70-300G
1/500 f/5.6 ISO 800

The Brown Thrasher!
A large, skulking bird of thickets and hedgerows, the Brown Thrasher has one of the largest song repertoires of any North American bird.
Boldly patterned, it is conspicuous when singing on its territory, but is hardly discernable during the rest of year.

I've been playing around with a couple of cheap point 'n shoot cameras (Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ8 and Sony DSC-W120,) just to get a feel for how they perform... I'll post more as time permits. I'll post Exif info so you know which camera was used. Did some minor PP in Picasa (Windows version running on MBP through CrossOver...which works just fine.)

I sort of like the "ready to pop" nature of a soon-to-be flower. Shot last summer in my back yard garden.

wow what a scary picture .......how did u manage to capture this :) ......feels like someone watching me from this pic .....

I took it in the middle of the day, just after Christmas...and the original image (after a few of the usual tweaks in Adobe Camera Raw) came out like this...

wycombe012colour.jpg

But I wanted to change the mood a little, so I played around a bit more. In Adobe Camera Raw I converted it to black & white...

wycombe012bw.jpg

I thought a moonlit look might work well, so I applied some subtle Split Toning (still in ACR), with two different shades of blue. In Photoshop I have a selection of Actions that give cross-processing kind of effects, so I then ran one of these to finish it off and ended up with my "scary picture".
