Dancing oystercatchers @ The Purangi, NZ
Walking down the beach I heard a racket, and looked up to see a group of oystercatchers strutting their stuff.

From a few years ago, in Hobble Creek Canyon. A section of state forest apparently leased to ranchers who run cattle there. Thus the fence. Nikon D3300 with stock 18-55(?) lens.

Alfred's back! I saw him yesterday for the first time in a couple of months when, startled, he flew from where he'd been standing in some weeds near the water's edge up to the roof of a nearby townhouse. I grabbed the camera and rushed out to the deck to get some shots. So happy to see him again! He looks a little shaggy in his winter plumage -- but hey, a guy's gotta keep warm......

Archive: A scene from the Durango Silverton Train ride (circa Aug. 2015):

Have ridden the Silverton twice and loved it. Unless something changes for the better in the next few months it looks like that won't happen again. I also understand they went environmental and switched over to oil, which would probably take some of the fun out of the ride.

'Gold Creek'. One of the also-rans from the weekly challenge. This one was shot on an early Kodak DX 3700 camera. Only minor PP tweaking, including minor burns to high lights.

I was going to ask what this was but you answered earlier. Not seen one before!

I just hope that photo is not too disturbing, the fish looks like that even when swimmimg.

I was just the photographer...no 4 wheeler for me.
But then again, it was Dec 23rd and great beach weather (unlike the cold snap correctly forecast for Dec 25th). The water did take a little adjusting to, but surfers were not wearing wetsuits.
