New. It seems many of the used copies see a lot of abuse. It arrived and I’m a happy camper. Not a light lens for M43, but not a heavy lens for what it offers in terms of reach and IQ.

Just as I got ready to try it out, a raptor arrived. Photo tomorrow. :)
A friend of mine returned his second hand copy today as it had a bit of fog. He’s ordered another second hand one.
Just curious. Aren’t they weather sealed?

It’s considered dust and moisture resistant, so probably not what I’d call weather sealed. Like I mentioned, this lens in particular seems to get run through the mill more than others. Maybe because it’s considered a wildlife lens?

Could be that. My 200-500 isn’t sealed as well as my pro lenses. But I’ve never had any issues.

I’ve never had issues with any lens, to be honest. I won’t take a non-sealed lens out in a heavy rain, but I’ve taken my 75-300 out in the snow. I almost wonder if those 100-400s took a dip in the water. I save those silica packs, and if your gear gets wet, put them in a bag with a few of those for awhile to help suck the moisture out.

I have a dehumidifier. Even better!

I’m eagerly awaiting a PL100-400 today. I shoot M43, so it’s the FF eq of 200-800mm. All my bird shots are currently taken with the Olympus 75-300ii—a very affordable and lightweight lens, though it takes some work on technique to get the best out of it because it is so light.
I’m excited for you. Can’t wait to see your photos with it!
