Macy's 4th of July Fireworks over the East River with three NYPD officers in the foreground. There were so many people jammed on to the highway (closed off for spectating) that it was difficult to keep my tripod steady. People still filled the highway as if it were a block party despite the fact that it was raining as well. Macy's advertises their fireworks show as being the largest in America with 35,500 shells in total and an average of 1,100 shells per minute.
Dammit Martin C, how did you get so good!!!! Your flickr is incredible by the way. If you have any photography tips for this lowly peon, I'd love to have them
You're the best photographer on this forum!
Thanks so much. There's not much I can say as I don't have much experience--I'm only a high schooler--but I think that I can speak for everyone here when I say that we are all still learning. Heck, even professionals learn new things. I've only had my camera for a little over a year and I've vastly improved just from practicing. Not every shot one takes is going to be amazing. I find myself happy with one or two good shots after some shooting. Ansel Adams has a great quote about this: "Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop." Sometimes when I'm dry for ideas, I look at other people's work for inspiration and then put my own twist on it. I always try to go into a day of shooting by a motto of not taking the same, pedestrian pictures as everyone else is, but looking for shots with originality and new perspectives.
