It's difficult to get really wide in this environment. Likely due to the flat topography. I have similar places like in your image around here.
I've tried elevating the camera by standing on top of the Jeep, or finding another spot with some height. That seems to help.

Nice...

Almost expecting to see Boycie and Marlene come by on their fanboat :D

You are too critical. If I were to get all cliche on you, I would say maybe..... and it is a big maybe...

Drop the horizon down a tad, then, increase the temperature to give the golden heat view that we see on CSI miami... :)

Dont know if this is a load of twaddle... but it is a nice capture as it is...

What about a pano if 20mm isn't wide enough?

Thanks for the comments everyone - tried a 1:3 pano but it just looked like a wider version of what I posted. Think the answer lies in getting the horizon down but unfortunately mid-range rental cars don't have roofs capable of taking my weight without significant permanent deformation...Looking around internet, it does seem to be a difficult place to capture the spirit of but worth a try.

I do. Nice shot Ken. Like someone else said - maybe clone out the intrusions, but otherwise really nice. Summacron I take it?

Love this Peter. Great light!

Thanking you, I will have a play with it tomorrow but nope, it is actually just the 55mm Zeiss. On holiday and dont get the Leica glass out often for fear of it getting broken.

Sounds like you're not happy with those Leica's. You really should let me have them Ken ;)

Lol.... they are wasted on me and i am agonising over a M body. Or do I wait until the new M arrives next year with some whizz bang bits from the Q added... or do I get an A7Rii or do i stick with the gear I have got and instead, learn how to take a picture properly... also this option means we can fit a new bathroom this year.

I am messing about with the camera on holiday a bit more than usual so I am playing more with the exposure triangle. It is fun, lots of deletes but a few nice ones. Just messing you know, playing with dropping the exposure a tad to get better colours and stuff.

Hence this one with the light...

If i get tired of the Leicas or decide they are just not good enough anymore, I will let you know but we know you dont need them anyway with the way you rock that Nokton... :)

Hi guys... it's been a while since I last posted, but here's a shot from today. In my backyard this afternoon and was watching a Robin teach her young one how to fly. The baby Robin was perched in a tree right next to me at one point and I had my camera handy...

You do whatever makes you the happiest fella. It's your hobby and you should go down whatever route you want.

If you buy a used M240 and then Leica do add some of the Q's Magic next year (they'd be fools not to) then you'll probably sell the M for little loss knowing how Leica's hold their value. If I were in your position that's what I'd do, rather than buying another iteration of Sony. It might give you a bit of a "back to basics" trip that will make your photography even better.......or it might frustrate the hell out of you ;) Perhaps you should rent one to see if you like it.

Thats a good shout a used M is a good call. Saying that they are way too expensive to rent. For a weekend they are almost the price of the FE 28mm lens!

I am going to go into the Leica shop on Old Street on my next trip south to talk to them about trying one for an hour or so, take a lens with me and take one for a spin I think. I need to get this out of my system.

I am thinking the return to basics approach is why it appeals to me but it would sure be nice to have image stabilisation in there. :) I am worried the fact it isnt TTL means it will likely bug me but if I can get come pictures that are as good as those produced by you guys on here then it will be worth it.

Anyhoo... Here is one for today.

These are the patio heaters in the restaurant at the hotel. Thought they were nice.

You don't need an expensive camera to get good results Ken. A lot of modern cameras will run rings around a Leica at a fraction of the cost. The gear you have will produce images just as good, but I can see the allure and had I the money I would definitely look into them myself.

GAS is a terrible sickness ;)
