I like it. But I think I'd like it more with a little more foreground ( or lower point of view).

[I'm a neophyte, so take my opinion as such.]

The colours and tones are nearly there. The blue in the sky is a bit out of balance, being too saturated for my eyes. You need to break images like this down into parts for better post-production. This can be done with ease in Lightroom, through the use of an ND Filter type effect, just for the sky. This would allow you to moderate the blues in the sky and have a separate control over the waters appearance too.

I'm not sure if you have a waterproof tripod, but if you do, you could try different POV's, such that you end up with all manner of images that concentrate upon certain parts and compositions of the old jetty posts. I'd be tempted to start off with concentrating on the birds and various placements, so they are above and then below the horizon line and using various positions of the tripod in conjunction with various reaches of your lens. It currently feels a little cramped, with the far stumps forming one lump of black.

I hope that makes sense?!

Thanks for the constructive feedback Oblomow and Alexander, always great to get such valued comments.. I was pretty limited with positioning I'm afraid: sat the camera on top of one of the stumps. Taking the tripod on vacation would be ideal but a lot of hassle (too mean to invest in a very lightweight job) but there were a number of times it would have been invaluable. I'll have a play with PP to look what to do with the colours in the sky. Thanks again guys.

I'm gonna be cheeky and post what may be a repeat image of recent times. Sorry if that is the case.

I just found out a few hours ago that this image (below) and another of mine have been chosen to be published in CameraPixo's latest fine art magazine offering, "Fine Art 03 - B&W Urban Nature."

This image below was the recipient of an Editors Choice award. Considering that the majority of images published are from international award winning artists, it's a nice nod of the head to receive and for me to see that I'm on the right track with my architectural imagery.

Always nice to get a bit of (well deserved) recognition. Well done.

OMG! that is fantastic. That begs for a caption. I didnt even see the second one lying there! Fabulous shot!

Really? must be a Brit saying. No description needed I assume ?

It is a fabulous dark, sinister shot with a threat about it, it could be a public safety poster.

Amazing photo!

Thanks Ken and seadragon...much appreciated.

@oblomow @Apple fanboy @Cheese&Apple @someoldguy Thank you gentlemen. The next step is to get the luminosity masking techniques mastered to take the imagery that further step again in regard of finessing.

Lovely POV and colours to this sunset image. It's a POV I haven't seen before, making it unique (to me at least), which is hard to achieve in these sort of images.

You have great imagery on your site, really nice colours, subjects and POV's. It would be a delight to see them shared here too! ;)

Thanks a lot, @Miltz . I'm slowly getting there and absolutely loving the journey that photography takes you on. Including all of the challenges, twists and turns and all... o_O:confused::)

Another shot of Conwy Castle... I'm interested in what folks think of this... I was almost tempted to discard this image along with a batch of similar shots, because the sun was not at a great angle but then the boat in the foreground was begging for this shot to be a keeper. (and unfortunately the tight crop is required due to very unsightly crap outside the frame)... Thoughts?

I know what you mean about crapy stuff next to your subject.
When the sky is as uneventful as this, sometimes a B&W looks better.
Also as an alternative crop (which is just how your image looks on my iPhone as I type this), how about lose the castle by finishing your shot at the shore line. So the boat becomes the focus and the castle is just a reflection?

Good suggestions... I'll give them a try tomorrow. In fact the crop you mention is easily duplicated here by scrolling... And it does look interesting. Cool! :)

Wonderful sense of mystery in this shot. Perfect!

Thats a good shout a used M is a good call. Saying that they are way too expensive to rent. For a weekend they are almost the price of the FE 28mm lens!

I am going to go into the Leica shop on Old Street on my next trip south to talk to them about trying one for an hour or so, take a lens with me and take one for a spin I think. I need to get this out of my system.

I am thinking the return to basics approach is why it appeals to me but it would sure be nice to have image stabilisation in there. :) I am worried the fact it isnt TTL means it will likely bug me but if I can get come pictures that are as good as those produced by you guys on here then it will be worth it.

Anyhoo... Here is one for today.

These are the patio heaters in the restaurant at the hotel. Thought they were nice.

I like this photo. You seem to be doing fine with the camera you have!

Really? must be a Brit saying. No description needed I assume ?

I've never heard of it either! No idea what it means and I don't think I want to! :)

Thanks Ish for the kind words.

The phrase is one used in Glasgow a lot meaning when you get a fright.

Really like the shot, maybe could you lift the shadows a touch though to give the main structure a bit more detial?

If you've shot this as a RAW image, you might be able to lift the shadows and blacks to reduce the reflection quite a bit actually. I really like the boat in the foreground, that's a good point.
