A flatter, shallower entry will help. You can see the difference betweem him and the legs of the guy on the left. He won't have the leg strength to benefit from dolphin kicking deeper underwater like the older guys.My son (now 9) was thrown in to butterfly at age 6 or 7 because the team basically needed a lane filler. He has been legal for several years (after DQing for most of his first season) but always soooo slow. Although he is still not quite placing in the meets, he is slowly working his way up and has managed to have PRs every meet this season, and today was only 8/10s of a second from getting third place. It's like all the tumblers are finally falling into place, and I am super proud of him for continuing with it, despite his lack of placing. His sister (who is a better overall swimmer but did not swim this morning because her age group is super competitive, and she has girls in her group who swim at the national level) was watching some of the older kids diving and commented that she wished she could dive like that. My husband and I have been telling them for years that if they dove *out* instead of *down* they'd drop considerable time, so now we are on the hunt for some dive instruction this week. Maybe that will be the trick to boost him up to placing next week.

Good job. Ours is sadly finished for the year.
Looks like a lovely spot. Enjoy.View attachment 707861 Decided to go on a hike today in the mountains, following in the footsteps of @Cheese&Apple & @kallisti
My thought (as a competitive swimmer from many years ago) when first looking at the photo was that the swimmer should make a more shallow dive. Then I read your text. I agree with your "out instead of down thought. My son (now 9) was thrown in to butterfly at age 6 or 7 because the team basically needed a lane filler. OHHHH YES. Definitely digging this. I'm going for a hike/camping a couple of weeks from now and am stoked. Did you stay for the night?View attachment 707861 Decided to go on a hike today in the mountains, following in the footsteps of @Cheese&Apple & @kallisti
Is this Stone Mountain in Georgia?Pano at Stone Mountain beforehand the laser show and fireworks. We had to sit through a brief but drenching rain first, then we got the rainbow.
BRILLIANT shot.Skógafoss, Iceland
Got to spend some time in Iceland recently. What a remarkably beautiful country...with sights to photograph at every turn.
Got to be re-connected to the archive tomorrow - maybe.
Old pictures with Canon kit.
We where on our 'Honeymoon'.
It was a real adventure. Crossing rivers, driving on paths, up old volcanoes; the usual.
My wife did not realise that we should have been accompanied by an official guide. My old Mitsubishi SWB van did the job. From 12" deep sand to 36"deep water that machine just seemed to eat it up.
Oh and I must not forget the fog, ice, snow, holes in the road, no white lines and me driving totally out of my brain!
Best meal I remember was in a cafe on the first day. Local salmon. Wow!

Would post some of mine but do not have the nerve.
Good stuff.

That is on the "definitely one day" list. Beautiful capture
Great shot
Absolutely stunning, Peter! Looking forward to seeing more from your stay there.
I can't wait to get back some day. I've been recommending Iceland to friends. This is such a good picture - it has a very powerful mood to it. It's inspiring me to post a few more of my own.

BRILLIANT shot.
Reading/seeing yours and @Cheese&Apple's posts, I'm thinking that I'm going to have to make Iceland a must next year. I've been wanting to go since it first tickled my interest about five years ago. I keep planning on going (especially with WOWair's insanely cheap fares from the US), but things keep failing to line up. Thinking it's time to bite the bullet and go.
Great spot. Where is it?View attachment 707861 Decided to go on a hike today in the mountains, following in the footsteps of @Cheese&Apple & @kallisti
Great spot. Where is it?
Can't wait to take camping in Scotland. One more week and our vacation starts. Our children are already asking 'are we going hiking and camping in the wild again?'
