I don't see any rain clouds!

It was weird.....There was plenty of sunshine when I shot this and a few other photos out at the pool and then the sky started getting dark and clouds were coming from seemingly nowhere. I hadn't even had a chance to take a swim! This was one of those fast-moving storms, apparently, which was startling in its sudden looming up on the immediate horizon. I rather quickly decamped and had only been home about ten minutes before indeed, the sky released its burden of water......

So many good photos here, and on the other threads. Even those the photographer considers flawed. I am lurking and hoping to learn. I have lots of old pics taken with my Sony point and shoot (although it has a proper zoom and a manual mode too), though my phone has taken over. Right now am seeing how you all choose your subjects, frame your shots, and how and with what you post-process them. Thanks for making this the friendliest sub-forum on Macrumors (after the espresso thread)!

Lilac-Breasted Roller
July 2018

A photo of a captive Lilac-Breasted Roller at Belfast Zoo. This was taken though the dirty glass enclosure window but I was surprised how detailed it turned out. There is some slight ghosting from the dirty glass visible on the branch in two places. I'm not even sure a polariser would have helped.
Compositionally, I like this, but the two leafy branches down by the bird's tail annoy me because they are a bit of a distraction, but I couldn't do anything about that.

Fuji X-T2 with XF 50-140mm f2.8 @ 119mm.

What a pretty birdie. You could clone out the leaves if. They really bother you.

U.K.
I visited Talybont, near Barmouth, over the weekend. Wales, in the sunshine is one of the most beautiful places on earth (next to England, of course!) mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, etc... on Friday we had a superb sunset (i'll post another that day though because I cant compete with another scotsman so i'll wait until he post something else;)
In the meantime, we also visited Nantcol waterfall in Llanbedr and, unlike when AFB visited his waterfall (AFB - was that The Devil's Bridge Falls?) this one still had some water in it.
The waterfall is split into several parts, each with pools of 'black' water which are incredibly photogenic, sadly on the day we visited the lard arses also decided to visit and 'strutt their stuff' in bikinis, it was therefore pretty much impossible to get a good shot of the big waterfall, instead we had to settle for the smaller falls. I tried a longer shutter speed of 32sec. F8.0 ISO 100 on a tripod. I'm pretty happy with the way this one came out.

@Apple fanboy was too expensive so I had to get someone else to stand in for him.

Couldn't believe it when the couple came and sat on the log without even asking if it was okay.

Beautiful bird. Despite the glass it's come out well.

I can see why you went there, that's stunning. Pity about your timing but that means you'll have to go back, so all's well that ends well! I'm sure you don't mind the two-three drive to get to a place like that. We were making plans to go back to Talybont for another weekend but i might take a look there now, we usually go to Snowdonia, maybe i'm missing a trick not going to the Brecons.
I know what you mean about the couple, i asked my wife why people think it is ok to p**s everyone else by being selfish (hence, the lard arses comment in my post) I understand everybody has the right to enjoy themselves but they should consider others more sometimes. Alas, these things are sent to test us!!

Looks like you got a great spot although there is one thing, i mean, Nikon, come on. :oops:o_O:)

When I arrived at the parade there was a guy working on the costume/one-woman-float for quite awhile. She had quite a wait before she took her place in the parade but with water in hand she appeared to be quite happy while well wishers came up to talk to her and people like me taking pictures. It was impossible not to get caught up in her positive spirit.

Tell me about it! First thing I did when I got there was to pick up all the plastic bottles and rubbish that would have been in shot.
