A more low tech lock than yesterday's then!

Right you are, there! Actuallly, I hadn’t thought about it that way..... My attention had been captured by a door swinging open (it is part of an external enclosure for HVAC units) and I took a few shots of the door because I liked the weathered look of the wood. Huh, yeah, I did seem to have a theme going on there with locks and latches, but didn’t even realize it! I need to get back out and reshoot the door, though, as the shot I took of it in its entirety was a little too precisely cropped in-camera, leaving me no room in post-processing to correct for the fact that I’d shot the thing at a somewhat crooked angle!

first time shooting fireworks, frantically adjusted settings to see what works ... this one is 100 ISO, f/2.8, 1/4 sec ..

Nothing wrong with this. From my own experience, it's a little too short of an exposure. 1/4 sec can work if you time it *just* right. Would suggest a 2-4 sec exposure in general. But it depends on what you are trying to capture and how lucky you get with your shutter presses.

Also, while it may seem like you would want to shoot wide open as it's low light, that isn't usually the case. f/8-11 is often optimal both to get foreground/background elements in focus if they are present in the composition and (more importantly) to force the slower shutter speeds that fireworks benefit from to show the full explosion rather than just a part of it.

I thought we had an arrangement that I was going to carry your bags on your next trip!

Beautiful lighting.

That is beautiful just wonderful.

Absolutely stunning, Peter! Gorgeous soft colours and light. -20C! I can barely cope with days that are +13C!

Lovely colours.
So I guess the next few weeks we will be treated to svalbard pictures that will make us green with envy. Keep them coming.
Thank you all very much and AFB, when you didn't respond to my pm about this I assumed you weren't interested. ;)

I would say "next time" AFB but I think I'm done with Svalbard...just getting there I encountered flight delays and missed connections that meant an extra two stops, six flights in total, sleeping in two different terminals in countries I had no intention of stopping in, 42 hours total travel time and just about missing departure of the boat. :( But I'm really not complaining, it was a great trip.

Mrs AFB must have deleted it. You know she can't stand me leaving her for a few days! ;)

If you squint, the dress could almost look flower like...

Maybe a model with a flower?

Nice black and white. Needs some flowers in it to keep @The Bad Guy happy though! :p

No flowers, but a photo taken on Canada Day, of one of Geneva's water taxis next to one of the classic steam paddlewheel boats that transport tourists around Lake Leman between Switzerland and France. Geneva's "Jet d'eau" fountain and a rainbow behind. Could have used cropping or better framing but a chance shot.
