So many good photos here, and on the other threads. Even those the photographer considers flawed. I am lurking and hoping to learn. I have lots of old pics taken with my Sony point and shoot (although it has a proper zoom and a manual mode too), though my phone has taken over. Right now am seeing how you all choose your subjects, frame your shots, and how and with what you post-process them. Thanks for making this the friendliest sub-forum on Macrumors (after the espresso thread)!
Thanks and here it is...a long thread by the way. We're all here for the love of the craft and all of us I'm sure will be keen to help Now, where is that espresso thread?
Good luck with the award - they’ll need to do something special to beat you!I have an exhibition starting in a couple of weeks time for the 2018 South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival of which I was nominated and became a finalist for a fairly prestigious arts award (The Don Dunstan Foundation Award), results aren't announced until the end of the festival at the end of August, but I have a chance being one in four for this one.
So I spent the day today getting my final two images for this exhibition, this is one that didn't make the cut, as was the bird one I posted in the weekly contest.
Canon 6D, Canon 24-105mm f/4 L, Formatt-Hitech Firecrest 13 Stop ND, Bulb Mode, Multi-segment Metering
ISO 100, 105mm, f/6.3, 30 seconds

Thanks @anotherscotsman ! It's a bit daunting being up against the others, they are all seasoned pro's, one is an awarded and highly known potter of 30+ years.Good luck with the award - they’ll need to do something special to beat you!
This is a solo exhibition, that's all I've ever done. Expensive and time consuming for sure! My next one is actually 6 weeks later, as a part of our states biggest photographic festival, that's held every two years, thankfully!Best of luck @Alexander.Of.Oz I hope you go on to win the award!
Exhibitions are fantastic to be involved with. It’s great seeing your work presented so well up on a wall.
I’ve done a few like yours (although not competitions) and enjoyed them.
I’ve also done two solo exhibitions but oh man, they are expensive! I won’t be doing another solo exhibition in a hurry.

Last of the sunsets - weren't many opportunities this year. Comments always appreciated.

I think they are used in situations where multiple people need access to a room and probably also in industrial or construction-type settings.... I don't know if they're used in the UK or not, and I certainly had never seen one before I moved into this building. Not the sort of lock one customarily puts on a single-family dwelling!
