Here's one from a roll of Velvia I shot back in the spring. I've had it scanned for a while but I've been waiting to play with a "toy"-the Meta 35 system.

Certain late high end Nikon film cameras had the ability to record metadata on each shot to be retrieved at a later date. The N90 was the first camera with this ability, followed by F5, F100, and F6. Nikon made two different cords to retrieve this data-the MC-33 with a PC RS-232 port and the MC-34 with a Mac RS-422 port. You also need the Nikon Photo Secretary software, and for Macs you need a serial port and should probably be running OS 9 or earlier(although this isn't a hard limit, that means "old world ROM" or beige Macs, although there are ways to get a serial port on a G4 tower). These are VERY difficult to find.

Nikon makes an accessory for the F6 that will retrieve the data and dump it on a CF card. Supposedly, it also works with the other cameras with data recording, but the N90 and F100 don't have it turned on by default. Turning on data recording is a "hidden" custom function in these cameras only accessible through Photo Secretary.

In any case, Meta35 is a USB-based solution that allows you to retrieve this data and set custom functions. It will also automatically append the metadata to scans. This is my first try with the latter function.

Since I didn't get it added(I think I know how to now) this was shot on Velvia 50. I used a "Moose" polarizer-a wonderful film era relic commissioned by Moose Peterson that combines an 81A warming filter with a high quality circular polarizer. Even though B&H still sells them, it's hard to justify buying a new one since most folks prefer a more neutral polarizer for digital use.

Do you ever take the wrong kit? I did. D7100 + 200-500mm (i was looking for birds). However I liked this tree, but couldn't get a good shot as I was too close.

So did a stitch of a few shots!

Interesting idea. :) Well done. I've done stitching before, but more for a panoramic effect, not to take a zoom lens to normal length.

Well it wouldn't be my normal approach! I've gone out with just one zoom lens twice recently so I should no better. Next time I'll pop my 50mm in my pocket!

I remember riding a scooter along that coastal road with Mrs Kenoh riding on the back. She screamed every time I tried to turn a corner so we ended up going 5mph the whole way along from Positano... lol...

Lovely picture and thanks for the memory trigger...

Wow, lovely beautiful details. Only thing is the dust spot above the distant peak, if you clone that out it would be wonderful

I remember taking my wife out as a pillion. We got up to 100 after a short while and I thought that was probably enough for her. However when we got home she said 'Doesn't this bike go any faster?'
I, on the other hand, am an awful pillion ;)

Cheers :)

I'm sure there is a joke in there somewhere but it might not be suitable for an open family forum!
