A red leaf wild rose. Not native to western North America. Not sure how this one wound up in our yard but I do enjoy it.

how very exciting for you!!!The last trip to Africa resulted in one of the most incrediable opportunities of my life. We were tracking a pair of lioness most of the morning. The decision was made to swing a wide circle and see if we could get in front of them. Ninety minutes later walking towards us was the holy grail of Africa, a white lion. She was one of the 6 remain wild white lions remaining on the planet. The brown color on her is Cape Buffalo dung, she and her sister were pairalleling a herd of them in hopes of making a kill. I think cats instinctively eat grass or other greens in order to help them cough up a hairball.....Some carnivores will occasionally munch on some greenery, perhaps to get a bit of nutrients they are lacking. I know dogs and cats will do it. Our cat tries to eat any plant we bring into the house, and it typically doesn’t stay down long. I don’t know if that is just because they shouldn’t eat certain plants, but I have heard of people glowing a small pot of grass for their cats to munch on.
p.s. Thank you so much for sharing this. Their pristine wildness has me shedding tears of joy.The last trip to Africa resulted in one of the most incrediable opportunities of my life. Baby finch
They do look graceful in flight but have a mighty bad B.O. problem you’ll notice if you ever get close enough to one.🤢Caught this turkey vulture as it circled overhead. They are so graceful in flight, I could watch them for hours.

We have provided a bathing trough for ours so they stop dunking in and befouling the horse water. They do look graceful in flight but have a mighty bad B.O. problem you’ll notice if you ever get close enough to one.🤢

They seem to gather on tall dead trees where I am.View attachment 2029886
Piling on to Turkey Vultures. Not a great shot by any stretch, but I loved the gathering. There were a lot more than this...this is in the town of Salida, Colorado. Unfortunately, this tree has been since cut down - people don't tend to like gatherings of vultures on their property - and they've had to move elsewhere.
I guess we're different- being secluded on 80 acres, we don't have to worry about others not liking them.View attachment 2029886
