Just going through some old urban-exploring images and re-editing them. Here's the first out the gate.

Canon 6D, Canon 50mm f/1.8, Multi-segment Metering, Aperture Priority
ISO 100, 50mm, f/1.8, 1/320

This picture was taken from the Spilter Knoll Overlook on Skyline Drive in Virginia. Below is the Shenandoah Valley.
I was scouting for a nice sunset location. Unfortunately during sunset, there was a big cloud right in front of the sun.
But I managed to get this shot 20 minutes after sunset. 3 frame bracketed exposure merged in Lightroom.
I wonder why they are called "Blue Ridge Mountains"? ;)

This is awesome.

That's exceptional even for you Peter. Love it.

Masterful, Peter.

Thank you all...very much. :)

Hummingbirds are tricky little buggers to shoot. To get any detail at all from their wings requires off-camera flash. For this shot, I used 3 speedlights.

It took me a couple days to get it right but I was determined to get a hummingbird shot for a project that I'm working on:

My 92 year old father lives in a nursing/extended care residence so I've done a couple of photo presentations for the residents of his home and others.

I mention this only because it has proven to be time very well spent and appreciated. If anyone is looking for something worthwhile to do with their images, pick a topic, any topic - I chose "wildlife" but it could be travel, bugs, flowers, landscape, anything at all and put it in a presentation. I put a bunch of shots together with Keynote and show them on the largest TV they have off my laptop.

The thing is that many of the old folks are hearing and/or visually and/or cognitively impaired so big and bright photographs without a lot of talking works very well. And, I know that around here, staff are always looking for volunteers to come in and engage their residents in some way or another.

I think I'm going to go on tour with this. :)

That’s a really great idea. Slide shows were pretty popular with the older generations, so I’m sure it’s a nice bit of nostalgia, even if it’s not the old projector, screen and slide trays. :) I still recall sitting through my grandparents’ slide shows of their trips after they retired. My dad still has several trays of slides in a closet from our family trips too. I can even still hear the clicks of the slide advancements.

Yup. I recall those evenings. Probably all landfill now.
