Not the most spectacular falls in the world, just the closest to where I live. I wanted to slow down the action, but with no ND filter and bright sunshine, this was never going to happen. Something else to add to the shopping list!

Comments always welcome!

Looking at the EXIF for your photo, it is indeed looking very bright, but bumping up aperture to the max might have been just about enough.

This was shot at 1/10 s, though way before noon.

It's my birthday today and my fabulous wife made me these awesome bacon cakes for breakfast! They're the future people, get on board. Bread base, onions, egg, cheese and bacon. A-frickin-mazing!

Image

Happy birthday - you lucky man! I have to have a go at making those bacon cakes - they look incredible!

Happy birthday! Those sure look nice. Sadly bacon is practically banned in our house. Did you get any nice presents?

Basically I need to get up earlier!

Just changed to Lightroom

After a loooooong time I gave lightroom a try. So far I thought Aperture is all I'd need, but Lightroom gives me much more options. The interface works well for me.
Here's one of my first Lightroom edits.

Photo of the day : March 2014

Happy birthday - you lucky man! I have to have a go at making those bacon cakes - they look incredible!

Thanks fella. They were delicious and pretty easy to make. Some chopped mushrooms in there would be perfection.

Cheers AFB. You should demand them for your birthday. Bacon once a year can't hurt ;)

I got a nice Minolta Rokkor 135mm lens and a Rokkor 45mm (which I've been shooting with for a few weeks because Mrs MacRy let me have it early).

Mine too... :)

Many happy returns birthday buddy. What are the odds on us both celebrating our 21st on the same day ;)

My brother has a Fender Stratocaster, so I got some pictures of the thing.

Mine for today. Went to Croome park. Mostly sunny with a bit of rain. Gave me a good chance to test my rain cover for my new bag!

The National trust are trying to match the original planting layout from the Capability Brown original landscaping. But because there are sheep everywhere all the new trees have little protective fences. I think its a bit too much to cut them all out, so you just have to live with them. Comments always appreciated.

Congratulations! Mrs MacRy is spoiling you.
Cheers to Doylem too.

I had my 28th birthday last week. (for the nth time)

Amazing. Your series has just been outstanding! I really liked the one with the attitude on the post in the snow as well. I'm curious... How far away are you from these guys? What lens are you using? How much cropping are you doing?

Thanks very much VirtualRain. Kinda hard to answer as there where a number of variables but to sum them up...

- Not much of a crop on the Great Grey Owl shots. If I waited long enough (with patience) he would come in quite close to about 25 ft.

- The Snowys are different story and you're lucky to get them within 150 ft so there more of a crop to this shots.

- Different lenses but half-way through the Great Greys and before the Snowys, I picked-up a 500mm f/4.0. I think my wife envisioned something different when I said I was going to pick-up a used lens from a friend. I think her exact words were: "What the hell is that". :)

Many happy returns to the birthday boys! I hope you guys don't mind if I got you the same thing i did last year.

MacRy, between your demented looks and Mrs. MacRy's knitted hats and bacon cakes you should be rolling in the dough and living on a tropical beach somewhere.

Congrats gentlemen. :)

"bacon is practically banned in our house" - That's bordering on criminal.

Not exactly. I checked the EXIF too, and you shot @ F/9 ISO250 1/500, but as themumu was saying you could have shot @ F/22 ISO100 and that would bring your shutter down quite a bit an depending on how fast the water was falling, it may have been enough for some blur.

An happy Bday to Macry, an Doylem

Happy birthday to the two of you! When it's my birthday I'd like some of Mrs MacRy's bacon cakes for breakfast then to go out shooting in some of Doylem's haunts! :)

You've been posting some really great dog sledding shots Moose. Thank you for sharing.

I have to ask because I don't know a single thing about dogsledding...they don't look like the stereotypical sled dogs. Are they amateur family pets that are put into service for the race or are they actual working dogs?

I know - what's up with a Canadian who doesn't know anything about dog sledding! I don't build igloos either. I'm so embarrassed.
