Hi FB! I would prefer it if a bit more of the centre was in focus. Also, if you moved slightly to the right or down it would hide the black area on the left. Or you could clone it out. What is it? Maybe a Magnolia?

Spot on! Beautiful flowers, but they don't last long. I suspect I might post one or two more. I'll take your comments on board though.

Little and Large

A shot from the weekend, that I spent it Paris :) Bought this from a street seller at the Trocadero. Lens was 50mm f1.8 (which despite having the restrictions you'd expect from a prime lens, it is by far my favourite bit of kit!)

Also, on a side note. I have noticed some of you have followed me on Flickr. Due to the nature of my travels I use Instagram more now. So *IF* you do wish to see other pics etc, please check me out on there as opposed to Flickr. ID is @drewunalkat

Regards :)

One of my favourite shots from visiting La Mauricie National Park in Québec. Unfortunately I only had about 5 hours to spend there, and the light was not the best, but it's a beautiful location nonetheless.

Beautiful and creative photo!

Very nice...could easily be a postcard. I like that you included enough of the base of the tower to make it readily recognizable without needing to pull back and include the entire height.

There is some great color and texture going in there. I wonder whether you might bring out some more of the weathered patina with some fill light on the near side or at a different time of day (given the harsh sun/shadow contrast, it looks like this was maybe mid-day?). The out-of-focus outer cogs are a little distracting to my eye, given how much of the image they take up and their rich color, but I like how the inner cogs are framed by the cutout in the wheel.

Almost like giant jellyfish descending onto the plaza...very eerie!

Thanks for that. It was a bit of an experiment with in and out of focus bits, different folks see it in different ways. It's something I will continue to experiment with. You are correct, it was mid-day, very bright and harsh light.

Unfortunately, it is not just down the road for me to re-visit. I may, or may not ever get back there and it already had the shadows opened quite considerably in PP.

This is it in context of its position.
