This was one of my shots taken during my first few days of having purchased a 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro.
PS I'm only 18
Very nice.
For the nay-sayers, between the info in PhotoShop from the original EXIF and the Flickr sidebar, the photo was shot with a 100mm 2.8 macro and submitted to a wallpaper site around a year ago. He didn't say it was new.

Anybody else having issues? How do I get to the large size and copy image address options now? I used to just click on it, select large and then right click to copy image address. None of that works now.

Yes, it's my image. I submitted it to the Ubuntu Raring Ringtail wallpaper contest sometime last year.
For the record, my name is YJ Chua and I'm 18. I currently reside in Malaysia and the photo stream at flickr.com/chua_photography are my images. I have made all images available for download under a CreativeCommons license.
I have also edited my Flickr screen name with part of my MR username in it to verify the authenticity of my identity.

Thanks -- sunlight filtered through the trees plus a wide-open aperture does the trick. The ghosting on the back edge of the petals bothers me some. (EDIT: Now that I think it through, this is probably fringing -- the 85mm f/1.8G's one downside so far -- because those petals are backlit and have an edge with more contrast.) I think it would be a stronger image if there was either a more defined edge (or if I tucked them back out of view) or a softer blur.

The light is definitely a little more interesting in these two images. Now I think it is a matter of patience and luck so you can capture the interesting light on an interesting part of the image.
I think the first works well because you have the trees and the (sculpture/grave-marker?) silhouetted against the brighter background, but I think it would be even stronger if you could catch the light hitting the (sculpture/grave-marker?).
The light is interesting in the second, but (to me) it draws the eye away from the more interesting parts of the image. I think it would be stronger if you caught the light painting the church or maybe one of the trees in the foreground.
She turns her head around, and says, "helloooo there AlaskaMoose!"
Nice capture -- my first thought was, "Wait, let me show you my good side."

Thanks for the feedback. I think I need to learn a bit more patience with my image captures. More food for thought regarding good lighting.
Same clematis as yesterday's, but it had lost half of its petals. Different lens and different light.

I have updated my Flickr username and included part of my MacRumors username in it to verify my authenticity.. I did submit it to a wallpaper competition (the Ubuntu Raring Ringtail submission), but am unaware that it appeared on other wallpaper sites. If it appeared on other wallpaper sites, it means that my picture has been stolen.

It's a very good photo and seemed to good to not have come from a wallpaper site.

I didn't expect the brouhaha over it though, to me it was just a simple image that got the bug's expression. It was also unedited, save for some cropping to a 3:2 aspect ratio with Photoshop (I dislike post-processing because I'm quite lazy)

Yes, I apologise. I got it wrong. Your pictures are terrific, very accomplished. Of course, any pix posted online (especially good ones, without watermarks) are likely to 'migrate' to other sites, without payment or attribution.

I don't watermark because I'm just a college student, so I'm a pretty lazy bloke and don't really get around to watermarking my images (if anyone can teach me how to batch watermark, I'd greatly appreciate it

Drag 'n' drop your pic into Google Images, and see what comes up. You're pix are good; you could make a good (secondary) income by licensing them via an agency: maybe a general one, plus one that specialises in natural history.
Well...I did make my images available for license from Getty Images via Flickr (Getty has an agreement to license images on Flickr), and none of my images ever made it for licensing
