Ive been a long time lurker of these threads, and always in awe of so many photos you all take! I have just joined, and though there is another thread for saying hi, the POTD threads are the reason I'm here. Some standout names, DoyleM, anotherscotsman, Apple fanboy, Alexander.in.oz, kenoh, and so many more I can't recall off hand. Your work, plus the birth of my new daughter has inspired my purchase of a new Nikon. Look forward to sharing photos when I've learnt a few things. So far I'm loving it, but wanted to thank all of you in here, for the inspiration!
Welcome. You're too kind. Congrats on the birth of your daughter.
No need to wait until you've learnt a few things to start posting though. Just jump right on in. I've only been shooting a few years, but have had lots of advice and encouragement on here.
Glad your doing it proper with a Nikon! ;)

Welcome to a world of desire, wanton lust and frustration. You will be after some lenses too... :)

Kind words, an honour to make the list thank you, but get posting and get involved. Welcome aboard and get out of lurking in the shadows, the lighting and the composition looks better out here... :)

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. Magical moment.

:D :D

In actual fact my GAS has been inflamed greatly by the antics of certain gentlemen on this forum :p

The Coolpix P6000 is a pocket sized compact camera with full PASM, and cost me only 30 quid because the seller said the lens cover won't close. A puff of air sorted that out.
It replaces my Panasonic TZ5 (far inferior), which I have sold for £35.
I find a pocket camera very useful :)

However, I may have just bought a 50mm 1.4 from 1962 which looks like it will give the Helios a run for its money...

Nice shot Scottsman ... Rape seed in Cheshire?
Sorry iancheyne, daffodils in North Wales...the national flower in those parts. There is plenty of rape grown round here though - just a little too early in the year for that.

Another view from my day out in North Wales - hand-held 300mm. Comments always appreciated.

Beautiful expression. I think that's what sets your images apart from many.

Nice spot. Looks like a couple missed the boat!

Nice photo. That sun makes me almost feel warm again. I like that you went for something different from the standard slow exposure.
Cheers AFB, much appreciated.

Haven't been out with the camera for a while , life got in the way . Got over to the NY Botanical Garden for the annual orchid exhibition today . Don't know what we like more , the exhibit or lunch at one of our favorite restaurants on Arthur Av. .

Well, I was on the front, just in front of the Hotels, looking at the end of the pier on a very cold and sporadically wet day in November. Took my Mum out for the day and she loves Llandudno ... first time I've been there in probably 45 years. Spent some of my misspent youth in Rhyl, Llandudno etc.

I love the compression ... v nice shot.

Surely the word 'host' would have given away the flowers' identity...

I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils...

:)
