The Red Panda!

Red Panda by Lance Randall, on Flickr

Great shot but is she mad? She must be stark raving bonkers to do that!

Once again, I apologize for posting more than one picture.
Naughty, naughty

I just gotta tell you that it was an exciting weekend for me and the missus. On Saturday we went to the grand unveiling and awards ceremony for Canada's Royal Ontario Museum Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2017 contest and I took top spot and won the grand prize.

It's all very exciting to receive a very nice prize package that includes a trip to Ecuador and have the Polar Bear image below hanging in the museum for the next there weeks.

I also have to say thanks to @kenoh and award Ken an honourable mention for suggesting a tweak to this image to add a bit more detail around the bear's eye. Thank you Ken! :)

Cheers,
Peter
Congratulations, i'm not surprised you won that photo is a masterpiece. Well done.

Cool. Without hearing an others voice and seeing their facial expressions, sometimes things get misinterpreted when delivered by the net.

Have you tried merging them as a panorama at all? Sounds like it could possibly be a good series to do it with. I'd be interested in seeing it, if it works.

I would like to merge them, however, I am not sure what program you would use for that? Can the Photos app on a MBP do that are do you need a more advanced program? Thinking back, I wish I took a panorama!

I think I am going to have a second chance though as another nor'easter is coming up the coast to pound Central New York where I live and the rest of the Northeast/New England area. Supposed to be the same heavy wet snow like the last time so I am hoping I can get a similar shot. Hope this is the last one and signs of Spring start to appear soon!

Thanks in advance for any help on how to stitch those photos together.

Found your website and I saw the waves in Hawaii again which you posted on here previously, I love those images. Especially the "Where Sun and Sea collide" image. Breathtaking.

Thanks Ken and interesting that you mentioned that shot (I think I've got the right one). I've printed only a small number of my shots but that one I had printed on metal with an acrylic overlay. Turned-out quite nice. It's definitely one of my all time favourites shots.

This young fella was really enjoying his backpacker sunbake, while all his friends were down on the beach mucking around. I could never do that, lay down with my camera on top of me, I'd be guaranteed to forget it was there and get up tossing it onto the ground!

Round where we live I'd have strapped the camera to me so nobody could nick it

Congratulations @Cheese&Apple! Great photograph!

I've been hunkered down at home because of a really big Nor'easter that brought lots of rain, high seas and powerful winds last Friday and Saturday. This storm washed out many homes along the coastline, flooded roads and cut power to lots of people. Some parts of the state, still don't have power. I was lucky and had power the whole time. Tomorrow another Nor'easter is coming, this time with snow in my area, more rain along the coast which isn't needed right now. On Sunday, I went to the beach to see the damage done by this storm. It was still very windy and cold. Due to my respiratory issues, I could only shoot a few photos of the ocean at a time and then I would go back to the car to warm up and catch my breath. I did this about 5 times at different points along the beach. The ocean was still very powerful. The beach was littered with debris from the ocean. It was a sight to see. Sand was everywhere- even across the street. I've lived in this area for my whole life and have never seen it this bad.

Thats the one. Love that shot. How nice does the metal print under acrylic look? I want to get one if my images printed the way a Peter Lik print does and I think that is the way to do it.

Does it look nice and saturated and high definition?

Gorgeous image. Have I said that already?

Don't go South of the river! They are all strange down there! #missing link? :p

Errr.... Don't go south of Scotch Corner you mean!

Anyone south of the A66 is weird!

Congratulations Peter - very well deserved. We’ll all be looking forward to your, no doubt amazing, shots from Ecuador. Enjoy the trip and your new found fame :)

Thanks Ken. I think it looks great - rich colours and the details in the highlights of the wave really stand out. Of course they do want to print at a minimum 300 dpi on metal so you need a decent sized image to start with. The cost seemed a bit high but it's mounted and hung floating without frame so I saved at bit on framing.

Another option is a metal print without acrylic overlay. I'm not sure that the overlay adds anything to the image itself (it may but I've nothing to compare it to) but, because it floating off the wall by 25mm, I think it looks better proportioned to have a thicker mount of about 6mm.
