Nice capture, do you use some sort of tracking device on your tripod?Another wide filed shot. This is the belt and sword from the Orion constellation at 200mm (Canon 70-300mm). The three main stars are the familiar constellation's 'belt'. If you know what to look for, there are a four nebulae (just) visible: from left to right Great Orion, Running Man, Horsehead and Flame. To be honest, to say you can see the Horsehead is a bit of a stretch...Only 15-minutes of exposure but I will need to wait until next winter to do a better job since Orion is getting low in the sky here.

Cheers @dimme. For that sort of focal length and only 30-second exposures, a basic tracker (eg Star Adventurer Mini in my case) does the job. Not too expensive, portable but limited capacity in terms of load. Good fun. Light pollution limits the exposure times so makes the tracking less critical.Nice capture, do you use some sort of tracking device on your tripod?
What kind of a bird is he? A blue heron? I’m not good at identifying birds other than the garden variety.
Yes, Alfred is an Immature Great Blue Heron (GBH) and he has been around here for the past couple of years, maybe longer. These birds tend to be solitary, and they like to hang out in areas where they can wade in the water and snare their prey. They'll eat small birds and frogs, too, along with fish, if they're hungry. What kind of a bird is he? A blue heron? I’m not good at identifying birds other than the garden variety.
I keep seeing a large (3’??) blue gray bird along the stream of my daily walk but never with a real camera. I assume it’s a blue heron but not really sure.
i thought the pandemic project involved some of those libation images you post. ?Simply continuing the Pandemic Project. View attachment 1744328
I'd love to see the shadows raised in the grass/hills area. Right now this image is neither a silhouette nor a balanced exposure. I appreciate that you put the horizon line on the bottom third. ?How could I improve this photo, don't be bashful, I have thick skin. Thanks.

Yes, cocktails, flowers and architectural images seem to fall into that category. Hope that all is well with you.i thought the pandemic project involved some of those libation images you post. ?

I agree, lift shadows for sure. Sometimes a bit of contrast and tweaking highlights can help, too. So much of it is trying to recreate how you originally saw it, since our eyeballs+brain can handle the dynamic range on the fly.How could I improve this photo, don't be bashful, I have thick skin. Thanks.
